Scene on the Road ID & MT

Hi Folks, we're still on our cross-country road trip from New Hampshire to Oregon. We've been having a lot of adventures and have been enjoying sharing our adventures with everyone.

We're not quite done with our travels (only half-way done) and will start our return trip home early next week. We still have one more stop on this first leg.

There have been long stretches of roadway with nothing to see but open road, especially through Montana and Idaho.
We drove on the interstate highways where the speed limit is 80 mph (maybe just to get through the state faster?)
To date. we've traveled over 3,300 miles through a dozen states with at least one more state to go before we start our return trip back to NH.
We've seen (more than we could count) cattle, dairy cows, sheep, goats, alpaca, llamas, and horses. Unfortunately, we haven't seen any buffalo, elk, or antelopes.

There's also been lots of hay bales (both round and square) and sage brush.

There's been long stretches of roadway with nothing to see haze ahead.
That's not bad weather over the mountains above, but sadly it's smoke from fires still raging in the state of California. There's no odor, but the smoke is very visible.
There's truly so much to see in the U.S. and exploring it by car has been a great wonderful experience for us.

Blogging on the road has been a challenge, but one I've been enjoying. We're spending the better part of a day in the car, then seeing as much as we can before traveling on to the next location. (Blog posts are lagging behind where we actually are at the present time.)

MANY thanks for following along with us and for all your comments. We're so glad to have you along for the ride, although Grenville said to tell you that it's your turn to drive.

Our August wedding anniversary is coming up in the net couple of weeks. We're unsure where we'll be celebrating  but wherever it is will be extra special this year and certainly memorable.

MANY thanks for following along with us and especially for all your comments.
We're glad to have you along for the ride. More blog posts to come . . .

Something happened when I posted my first comment so you may see 2 from me. The scenes are certainly pretty. You must be excited to be almost to the west coast. I hope you are going all the way to the Pacific. Hugs Erika

I totally understand about miles and miles of just fields, mountains and sky. I think that is why we live in such a great country........we get some of all of it......I have enjoyed traveling with you and tell Grenville I would gladly drive as I love to travel and see things too!

I'm enjoying the journey, but what a long drive.

that is a lot of miles and you still have that many to go to get back home. you could be a long haul truck driver... they would not want me in their state because I will NOT drive that fast, speed limit or not. 70 is my limit and I don't like that.

Hey! I LOVE those roads with no traffic!! Being from the Atlanta area, I am so tired of cars and being stuck in traffic. Those wide open spaces are very appealing. Lovely that you have had such a wonderful time on the road! And tell your husband to take me next time and I will do all the driving, except if you come to ATLANTA! LOL! :-)

Beautiful landscapes. It's not surprising that the smoke from the wildfires is making a presence known far away from the fires themselves.

Since I used to be a truck driver I'll be happy to take over for a while. I love pictures of scenery. You got some good ones.

I like the scenery on this leg of your trip. I hope you ht the black Hills and the Badlands. Yes it's wide open space here.

Lovely scenery along the way. I especially like the photos with the hay bales--it looks so serene there. Those fires in California are frightening. Amazing how much they are affecting the skies above as well as the earth below.

I missed a few days and have finally caught up with you. What wonderful adventures you are having. I said when I retired that I wanted to do a cross-country trip, but then my health gave out on me. So I am so happy you are taking me with you. Sure I will drive for awhile. I love to drive. And I even love long stretches of road with nothing to see.

I have loved every minutes of your journey. It has been an adventure for me, too, since I never set foot outside New York on my two visits to your country.

The open road with supposedly nothing to see would be the best part of the trip for me.
