Halloween Done Wright

No, that's not a typo in the post title.
It's the last name of folks in our neighborhood and is pronounced "right." To say that the family are really big huge fans of Halloween would be an understatement.

Judy, the family matriarch, always made certain that her home was a gathering spot for her grandson and his friends on Halloween. Although she passed away several years ago, her family continues the tradition which gets larger each year.

This year's theme was focused on evil clowns which were everywhere in the yard.

Lots of other characters joined the celebration — assorted skeletons and mummies.

Ghastly angels. skeletons in dress, and more clowns were not only in the Wright's yard, but in those of nearby neighbor's as well. (Yes, there were that many decorations.)

As with any large production, there were lots of extra helping hands; most were just hanging around or planted in place.

The Wright's Halloween display wasn't the only one in our neighborhood. A home daycare center around the block also was decked out in less scary style with black cats, pumpkins and ghosts, plus Frankenstein and a bat.

Gusty winds were predicted for the weekend, so both these displays were only up for Friday, Halloween night — they were great fun to see and enjoyed by all.

Seeing the Light

in late afternoon as sunlight glows through neighborhood trees.

Now that the days (finally) are much warmer and longer, we've resumed our local walks. We don't go walking every day, but try to get out a couple of afternoons a week, in addition to regular morning "Y" visits. Yard work also gets us outdoors more now.

This tangled maze of branches was not budding a couple of weeks ago.

Afternoon light creates unique patterns especially when coupled with special effects. These shots were done "straight out of the camera" (SOOC) using varied camera settings.

A fish-eye setting with an added "zoom" effect can make the world seem to go "faster."
ENJOY your weekend — hope that your weather is better now too.

Sunday Walk

This morning, Grenville and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. Boy, did we need it after pigging out on treats yesterday Festival (Grenville will post about what we did) . I brought along the camera to capture these feathered visitors.

Spring is nearly here – we spied our first robin!

Reflections..NOT on Life

Finally, it's sunny out today, but not for long. In the past 10 minutes, the skies have clouded over and the rumblings have started. Thunderstorms are on the way - AGAIN. The overnight rains included a couple of thunderstorms with some really loud claps and not the applause ones. Last night's downpours added to already waterlogged front and back yards, as we saw on a morning walk around the neighborhood. The F&P backyard is very soggy and it will be awhile before spring planting starts. Speaking of gardens, here's a neighbor's that's all underwater, but the reflections were pretty nice. Other backyards were turned into waterfront scenes which are scenic, but not for the homeowners.

This picture was taken just down the street near this sign... Ya think?
