Portraits of some welcome visitors who were hanging around the back yard on a snow day this week. Some shots were taken from the usual kitchen window vantage. Others were shot from the back patio after feeder(s) re-filling.
Hello, I am Ginny. My best blog friend Sandra sent me a link to you, knowing I love birds and am a birdwatcher. I love your blog, so many very cool bird and nature pictures!! You are a good photographer! I lve in Virgina, too, and have for over 40 years.
They are so beautiful. Perfect background. I agree with possum I've noticed fewer Blue Jays in our area, also the ones I have seen seem to stay higher in the trees.
Hi folks, glad you all enjoyed this collage of the welcome visitors - cardinals, junco, white-throated sparrow, and bluejay. WHile the bluejay is the least friendly and sharing, I prefer seeing these to the unwelcome starlings, blackbirds, and cowbirds.
The collages are fun to do in Picasa, which is a free download for anyone else who wants to have some fun.
Welcome Ginny, glad Sandra sent you here for a visit - come back anytime! Same for you Snapper II, and thanks for the comments too.
Yes Daisy and Christer, the red male cardinal is MY favorite too.
Beatrice your kitchen window birds are so pretty. When you have a view like that it makes the kitchen chores go faster. Happy Valentine's Day! Grenville, thanks for following my blog!
Hi Mama-Bug, the kitchen windows DO come in handy for bird watching, but I never seem to get any chores done when watching with m ycamera:-( Thanks for stopping by.

very pretty I started working on a winter birds piece for my blog but could not finish it this week, maybe later...
Beautiful. I especially love the blue jay. I can never get them close enough.
Nice collage! It's fun watching the birds, isn't it?

Nice shots!
Seem to be fewer bluejays this year out this way. Glad you have one.

Snow-loving birds should be happy up here in the next week or so. More snow coming.
Those jays don't pose as well as some. I enjoy filling the feeders and sitting in a blind to watch them.
