Blizzard Update

Yes folks, we have gone from a rare White Christmas to a roaring blizzard. I was starting to wonder earlier why the weather station wasn’t recording any wind gust. When we went out i saw why. The anemometer and vane were both covered with snow and frozen. Now free, we have winds of 12 mph.100_0030
And as of 1:00pm we have 10 inches of snow  and it is coming down heavy. No that’s not a snowman. Luckily I covered our Chimera yesterday morning after the wrapping paper bonfire. Here it is in the snow. AND we have decided to cancel any BBQ’s or smoked pork for a few days or till the snow melts.100_0031
The Princess and i went out and did our good deeds for the day and cleared our drive and cars(really a losing battle today)and cleared some of our neighbors drives, and of course the Fire 100_0035House down the street. After that we retired for the day (i seriously hope) and some Dark Sensation Cocoa in our favorite radio station (WESM)  mugs. So while we enjoy our cocoa, enjoy some of our other pix.

My goodness, how Christmassy! I see that greenhouse has survived, too.

It is cold down here in the South today, too. Cold and windy.

Stay warm!

Last measure here was 11 inches... lost the ruler in the snow... have to move to the yard stick. We had 4 inches when I went on TV this morning... 6 inches when I shoveled the driveway the first time... and so on. Got my pics on the blog inbetween feeding the birds and refilling the birdbath...
Glad I did my Boxing Day duties ahead of the storm! Stay warm and dry!

Wow, you really got it, didn't you. It looks very pretty as long as you can stay home and not have to drive in it.

Happy New Year!

Hi Lois and Kjell.
Bet your having a great WARM and snowfree time on the boat. Actually from growing up in New Jersey this is a great gift. AND i get to run around on the tractor plowing out neighbors (i'm known as 'that crazy damn yankee') so i'm happy.
Stand by Possum for the 6 PM measurements. Hope you found your ruler. Looks like we have another 6 inches or so.

Sounds like the storm that moved from here built up a bit more.I went for a hike in new snow and can see we had 3-4 inches but there was 10 in the north from here.I never let the weather slow down grilling, you just need a few more coals.

Hi Folks....Oh darn...the weatherman is right after all??.. lol
Report from Lisbon Maine is... just started to snow... 6:45!!!
We are in for it to...will see what the morning brings!!
When I was a kid living in northern Me. this would be just a regular old snow storm...lol : }

Luckily down here by the weekend this will all have melted (and flooded everywhere) so i will just be patient Steve and will soon be grilling again.
I sort of agree Grammie. In North Jersey this would be a big snow but not anything special. And school would only be delayed 2 hours at best. BUT sharpen up your shovel, this is a big snow maker. On the plus side, now it will look like a real Maine Winter.
