Finches in Many Colors

Birds have been flocking (sorry, bad pun) to our feeders since the Christmas Day snowstorm has left very few places to feed. In between unwelcome visits from grackles, starlings, blackbirds, there’s been an endless (or so it seems) number of finches.

Here’s some shots of female and very colorful male house finches.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Costas, these are very colorful little birds and such fun to watch, even if they are eating seed as fast as it's put in the feeders.

Flaine, this camera certainl is surprising me too and its cost was a real bargain too. THanks for the compliment too :-)

Thanks Ann - so glad I "gifted" myself with this one.

They are so beautiful! We have a bird over here that looks very much like Your House Finch, but with less red. Can´t remember the name now though :-)

Have a great day now!
Christer.

You're doing a "FINE" job with your new camera! Looks like you're having fun - and that's what counts.

Hi Grammie G, yes this camera is fun and for being relatively inexpensive it has been giving me some great results and maybe once i read the manual it can do a lot more too!

Steve, I know what you mean since I have an old Fuji S7000 that's over 8 years old but produces great macros and I use it for many of my wildflower and insect close-ups.

Thanks AC, I will do that!

Christer, glad you enjoyed these.

Mona, I am having a LOT of FUN!

Beautiful photos of the birds. They are so pretty. Where did you find these guys? Talk about a photo opportunity! Wow! Wish I was with you when you took these shots.

beautiful photos, if I had such a wonderfully full feeding station to watch, I'd never get anything done

THANKS Judy, these little beauties were at the feeders in our back yard and are viewable from the back window. They give me lots of great photo ops and you are welcome to visit anytime.

Country Mouse, sometimes it's hard to get anything done when I start bird watching, but they are such fun subjects.
