Fall arrived today – not quite here yet. So, these images are from previous years till fall colors get to the VA eastern shore.
Autumn, the year’s last loveliest smile.
William Cullen Bryant
Summer makes me drowsy, Autumn makes me sing, Winter’s pretty lousy, but I hate Spring.
I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.
Nathanial Hawthorne
Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees.
Faith Baldwin
Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.

How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.

Beautiful tribute to fall! I'm so glad it's here; but it sure don't feel like it yet here in Florida!
Beautiful photos! I've noticed just a slight tint to some of the trees. Can't wait for the leaves to turn.
Wonderful! Love that last shot a lot.
Absolutely gorgeous fall shots. I just truly love the autumn shades that brighten our way and then subdue themselves into winter. We will be traveling through North Carolina in Oct and I sure hope the colors are changing there then.
I see a beautiful heart in the last collage, beautiful ORANGE in every photo. the last one of the leaves i feel like i can reach in and grab one
Hi B.. Nice fall colors and images, but as you probably know I am not ready yet...: }
I did notice first thing in the last collage the heart shape in the leaf just as Sandra did...amazing!!
Grace
PS Muggy, drizzly, and low seventy's yuck!!
It is so beautiful! It is a shame it doesn't last longer, all through winter too :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
These are so beautiful!! I love fall - it is my favorite season. You have created some of the most beautiful fall photography I've ever seen!
Such beautiful, colorful photos, Beatrice! I enjoyed the quotes too. Very nice. :-)
Hope you have a good weekend!
This is a fun post.
Beautiful fall photos and collages! While the calendar may say the first day of fall, we have arrived at the end of fall. The biggest share of the leaves are on the ground and the predictions are for below freezing temps at night the rest of the week and probably until sometime next spring. The usual first frost is a little earlier so we are happy with the mild fall we've had this year. We're going to string out fall and are heading out next weekend to Hershey to the big swap meet and car corral there and then some travel through PA and up to NE.
THANKS to Everyone for the great comments. Fall seems to be hands-down the favored season.
Christine (Mama-Bug) and it hasn't felt like it here either with rainy, muggy and humid weather.
Thanks Sweet Virginia Breeze and welcome. Please do revisit anytime.
Mona, me too and it was taken in Maine when the leaves landed on a wood table - nature's perfect arrangement.
Hi Pat, you should have more color in NC by the time you get there. We just reurned and there was not a lot of changes along our route.
Sandra, go ahead, bet you can't pick just one!
Grace (Grammie G) that leaf heart was on the little dogwood by the side yard, which has died :-(
Christer, you sure will be missing some of this color soon when all that white stuff hits your area, so enjoy now!
Thanks Allison for the so very nice comppliment - much appreciated!
Daisy, glad you enjoyed the quotes cause it was fun looking for ones that fit with the photos.
Thanks Larry.
Elaine, wich we were going to PA too as we have family in Lancaster near Hershey. We WILL be spending time in NH starting Oct 3 - where are you travelling in NE. WHo knows, maybe we can meet someplace along the way - it would be fun!
Gorgeous colours ... like the "heart" picture.
Thanks Eileen, that heart leaf was a great "find" in our back yard. Glad you liked it too.
