Today, 10 years ago, attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC created a date that will remain forever in our hearts and minds. These attacks killed 3,000 people and demolished the Twin Towers in NYC. Extraordinary people became “heroes.”
This memorial stands in downtown Somerville, NJ, where I was living at the time. The plaque lists names of those killed who lived in the area.
The horror of that moment," the King went on, "I shall never, never forget!"
"You will, though," the Queen said, "if you don't make a memorandum of it.”

yes, it's a sad day but I'm just very grateful that there were no reprisals.
Such a sad, horrible day. I remember it all much more clearly than I really want to. So much tragedy.
Hello Beatrice,
Greetings and good wishes.
That horrendous day marks the water shed in the lives of most people all over the world. The world woke up to realize the extent to which terrorists can go to kill people and destroy property and monuments of great importance. Every single nation all over the world understood the need to protect themselves from fanatical terrorists. So many laws were introduced, security was tightened and travelers had to go through so many formalities.
American security has been tightened to such as extent and the forces have done such an excellent job that there has been no further attacks so far in US. Alas, India also tightened up its security but we have been continuously at the mercy of terrorists. A few day back, Delhi high court was bombed and six people died and about hundred injured. Our security system is in a disarray and something serious should be done about it very urgently.
Best wishes,
Joseph
A lovely tribute. So nice to meet you and glad you stopped by!
Ginnie, we too are thankful there were no repeats on the 10th anniversary as many had feared.
Daisy, this is the second tragedy I can recall exactly where and what I was doing. The first was when President JFK was shot in Dallas.
Welcome Joseph and thank you for your observant comments. Truly the USA is on alert, but then no matter how cautious there are also persons who will strive to create anarchy and disruption at the expense of so many innocent people. My sympathies to the families of those killed in the recent attacks in India.
Thank you Allison for your visit and comment. Both are appreciated.
