Backyard Beauties

All it takes to appreciate the colors and diversity in nature is for me to walk around the Frog & PenguINN backyard. That's what I've been doing recently while trying out a newly-purchased digital camera (more on that in a future post).

We have a several butterfly bushes in bloom and a large wildflower meadow which grows large unattended, much to the delight of bees and a lone ladybug.

And also butterflies.

Of many varieties and colors . . .
Flowers in bloom include day lilies, coreopsis, petunias and others . . .

Unlike many neighboring southern states, the VA eastern shore has not been inundated with rain the past few weeks. While, that's good news as far as lawn weeds dying off, the flowers are looking for some much-needed moisture.

How are things going in your part of the world?

love love love all the butterfly pics, awesome shots.. and yellow flowers make me happy, so pretty... we have had a lot of rain, but not to much, it broke our drought of 4 years... right now we are just right in the moisture thing, but in the bug and heat thing OH NO

Amazingly beautiful butterflies! Here in western Oregon we're enjoying a long stretch of perfect summer weather. Bright blue skies. Zero rainfall this July. Highs in the 80 to low 90s. Lows about 50 to cool things down. Humidity so low it's not even reported as a statistic on the weather page.

Well, you and your new camera are doing a fabulous job! The photos are amazing. Can't wait to hear what kind of camera you bought. I'm actually waiting for a new camera to arrive today that I ordered from Amazon, the Canon Powershot SX 260 HS pocket camera. I've never owned a pocket camera, but have always wanted one. We received rain in the night...very refreshing.

Beautiful, beautiful photos! Your new camera is wonderful and I'm sure the photographer has a lot to do with the quality of your photos, too. I hope you tell us what kind you got. I've bought a new one small enough to slip in my pocket. I think it's a keeper. I'm still debating! Yours is definitely a keeper!!

Beautiful photographs and those butterfles are just amazing! We have a few big one here but they are very rare.

It has been raing for a couple of days now so I don't feel that we need more for at least a month, the grass just starts to grow when it gets spoiled with water :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

Gorgeous photos and collages! We've been having lots of warm weather and very little rain. The flowers are doing great, but it certainly requires a good deal more effort on my part to keep them watered.
