Last weekend, Grenville and I made a trip to the nearly big city of Pocomoke, MD which is where the closest Tractor Supply and Lowe’s are located. One of the items on our list was bird seed. These Lowe’s shoppers had the same item on their list, minus the purchase.
An advance scout standing below pallets of birdseed.
Getting ready for a backyard barbecue?
These birds hung around the seed area for about 5 minutes until an influx of human shoppers invaded the aisles. (The camera was a small Panasonic digital with a limited 6X zoom; available light was used as the built-in flash would not have been useful.)

The birds have gone to the source. ;)
Hi Beatrice ....Those House Sparrows come with the building you know!! I haven't been in one yet where you couldn't see them setting, flying or getting into the seeds LOL!!
They can be a real pain, but they aren't dumb, thats for sure!!
Cute sequence. Why bother with a bird feeder when you can go after a whole sack of seed?
I think those birds have found a way around paying the bill--skipping the middle man! HA HA! :D
Now that was some serious bird watching! Loved it!
Our local Costco is a haven for House Sparrows. They barely move when I pick up a bag of bird seed. They are likely building a nest in the big sign on the building.
Those little cameras do capture the essence of the image and story. Ours gets more use than the big one.
Hi Folks, this was another case of how it's always handy to have a camera along - who would've thought there would be a photo op at Lowe's - certainly not me. After these sparrows flew away, I checked and found they could not penetrate the seed bags, so it's doubtful they got anything. OH YES, I was tempted to help them out, but didn't.
Yes, AC, the little cameras are always handy to have and I try to take this little Panasonic on every outing.
