It Ain’t Just Hay!!!!

IMG_0439 Well maybe it is just hay, but hey, hold on there pardner…. there is more hay where that came from. And remember, we may be rural, but we’re not ‘hay seeds’. So where did the hay come from (no not it’s mommy)??????

We got an urgent email this morning from our friend zoologist Matt. He needed to make room for the new hay he was going to cut today….. sooooo he was giving a lot of last years hay away (that was a nice rhyme). So following the old farmers adage of IMG_0441“Make hay while the sun shines” I headed over to Matt’s place and helped him out by taking 9 bales. Now for the funny part of the story. The plan was to put all the hay on the ‘hay wagon’ then haul it to the back field. BUT first the 6 bags of sand left over from the greenhouse foundation had to be moved off the wagon to the garden patio. BUT the sand bags were not as moisture proof as i expected. SOOOO after towing the wagon out to the garden patio, and picking up the first sand bag and watching all the sand poured out, i realized that a new plan was needed. The sand stayed on the wagon, the hay stayed in the truck, and I had a nice hammock ride. Yes, i heard the giggling off in the distance. Next time you want to make God giggle, tell him what your plans for the day are!!!!!!

Have to go check the ribs!!!!!

Great story. :) What are you going to do with all that hay besides hay rides??? For the animals? For the garden?

I really am enjoying your blog.

Best,
Lois

Hi Lois,
Hay rides sound like the best idea. Unfortunately most will be used for mulch in the garden. AND a neighbor wants some to build a winter habitat in her woods for small critters (possums).
