Chunky’s Cinema Pub, Nashua NH

chunkys ext1012We went to the movies today – by itself that’s a BIG treat since there are no cinemas where we live  on the VA eastern shore. Only this experience was unique in more ways than one.

Why? Because we watched the movie in a leather limousine seat without being in an actual car and it was indoors.

Where? At Chunky’s Cinema Pub, a privately-owned company with 3 locations in New England: Nashua and Pelham, NH and Haverhill, MA. This theatre/pub business is so “private” that there wasn’t a lot of information about it online. (The one shown below is where we went. It was open despite parking lot reconstruction.)
chunkys ext1012 (3)Seeing a movie at Chunky’s was a unique concept. You watch the movie seated in a stand-alone driver or passenger seat reportedly from a Lincoln Continental Town Car without a seat belt or arm rests. And, while there’s no car, this seat is on wheels.

The limo seats are set up in rows with a table in between. You can pick up a menu and order food from a full menu which incudes burgers, sandwiches, salads, and pub selections like french fries, nachos, chicken fingers, cheese pizza. And, of course, popcorn and candy are available. There’s also a bar for those who want something other than soda.chunkys int1012 (8)chunkys int1012Your food order is delivered to your table.

There was no one else in the theatre for the Money Ball matinee we attended – not even the chauffeur.

This evening was special because we got to meet fellow blogger, Elaine (Artic View) and her husband, Ray. Like Grenville and myself, they are also on a month-long road trip which started from Alaska. We’re glad they stopped in Nashua, NH, on their way to Freeport, ME.

What a neat idea! That looks like it would be a lot of fun to try. I'm surprised there weren't more people there!

I have been to one similar, but only straight backed chairs.

Kinda like a drive-in only indoors and more comfortable.

God keep you safe on your trip.

Hi Everyone, yes we also thought this was a unique way to see a movie, better with less folks there as we had our pick of seating and no heads blocking the screen.

Daisy, we went to a mid-week matinee which might explain the lack of others.

AC, surprisingly Money Ball was not fairly engrossing and neither Grenville or myself are sports fans. The fact that it was based on a true story made it more appealing to us.

Steve, the only other comparison I can make is having been to a theatre with "stadium-style" seats.

Tammy, and no worries about bad weather.

Eileen (Cicero) meeting Elaine & Ray afterwards for dinner was very nice. We had a great time!

Yes, Kathleen and Sweet Virginia Breeze it was fun and we may go again before our road trip ends.
