Away We Go . . .

We're on a(nother) road trip, everyone.
This one is very different than most of the ones we've taken over the years.

First, it's a very long one — across the U.S from New Hampshire to Oregon.
Second, we're not taking a plane, train, taxi but driving there (and back) in "Libby."
And, we're inviting all of you to come along at no additional cost !

There will be a LOT of stops along the way as we have no set schedule and are not sure how long this road trip will take. We're not in a rush, and because we're retired have the time and (thankfully) now live in an apt sand haze no house maintenance worries. Our wedding anniversary is in August, so we're celebrating in a unique (and memorable) way this year. Our best guess-timate is that we'll be back in NH at the start of September.

Along the way we'll share our adventures (hopefully no misadventures) in blog posts about things we've seen, places we've been, and where we've dined including the great, the mediocre and the just plain awful. (as in never to return).

Since we'll be traveling for several weeks, there will be some delays in reading your blog posts. It comes down to not having enough time after a day of travel and trying to post using wi-fi that's (sometimes) unreliable (or non-existent) internet access.

In the words of Grenville borrowed from J.R. Tolkien who wrote the poem “All That Glitters Is Not Gold” in the fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings:

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

We invite all to come along for the adventure. Leave the driving to Grenville (Patrick) and navigating to Beatrice (Dorothy) who will be finding places to visit along the route.

We're not traveling in a Chevrolet like Dinah Shore popularized in this 1950s singing commercial, instead we'll be seeing a lot of the USA in our Jeep. Here's a link to a bit of nostalgia for those of use who remember the Chevy commercial.

Retirement can be wonderful, and you're the living proof of that. Is someone 'keeping an eye' on your home while you're away or that is not necessary in your neck of the woods? Here, we're advised, for safety and insurance reasons not to announce on social platforms that we're going away for a while.
Looking forward to your travel adventures!

You are kind. If it was me going on a wonderful trip I don't think I would bother with blogging. However, I look forward to hearing all about it. Have a wonderful anniversary with the loved one.
