CLOSED - EVERYTHING
WHY?Overnight Tuesday, the VA Eastern Shore received its second major snow fall in 2 weeks with northern areas getting 4-6 inches; up to 7-1/2 inches towards the southern end. Temperatures were frigid too, starting with a morning low of 14 degrees F and daytime high of 21 degrees.
OK, so this is not a
Closures included all public and private schools in two counties, also a local hardware store, bakery, YMCA, medical facilities, including dialysis treatment. There's no snow plowing of local roadways. Snow removal is done by vehicles driving on the roads.
Grenville has his own method of snow removal with some help from his Deere "friend" John. Can you tell he's really enjoying himself?
After he plowed our drive and the local firehouse/EMS building, it was time for pancakes!

That's one way to take care of closure announcements -- Everything. I've been looking a Atlanta videos. OMG.
Good Morning, Your photos of the snow are beautiful! I like the part about pancakes best of all!
BOY! we could have used your hubby here with that tractor. BUT oh.. your snow is so pretty and you got way more than we did. I see the grackles at your feeder... maybe if you had a dog you could send him out to chase them off. So far so good here, the squirrels are staying on the ground as I keep some seed there for them.
Stay warm friend!! Your cheeks looked cold in that picture!
I'm for being inside and having the pancakes - even though I don't care much for pancakes, but I'll bet I'd like yours!
i prefer pancackes over snow. LOL and he should rent himself and his DEERE out for snow removal services. he could make a fortune in Atlanta
Got some coming tomorrow, will see how much. I went and skated yesterday, the ice is perfect on the pond.
It is a big deal to those who aren't used to it or have ever had to be equipped for a big snow storm un like us once a year Eskimos up in Canada lol Lovely photos . I do like that tractor , Papa needs one like that here lol . Stay safe and cozy and have a good day !
Pancakes sound good right now. Yes I bet the guy with his green mean machine was glad that it snowed. It is good to have him around.
I know what you mean.... and I woke up to -4 degrees this morning. What was your temp? Crazy weather. I am ready for spring.
It looks as You got as much snow as we've gotten so far. It snows today as well but it isn't noticiable on the ground to be honest. I can understand that it feels like lots and lots of snow for people that rarely tet any snow at all :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
It's so cold here. How nice for Pat to use the tractor again =) I like the idea of pancakes....I'll have mine with blueberry syrup! Yum!
Well if you can't go anywhere, you might as well take some pretty pictures of it. I'm all for the pancakes too! :)
I think he should hold on to anything that is "deere" to him!...:)JP
It's not at all anything the South is capable of dealing with, so the closures are entirely understandable. For us, that kind of weather is normal, and it's just something to get through.
Nice collages! Looks like Pat was having a good time! He could just wait a few days and let it melt, but I suppose that wouldn't be any fun. Hope everything is up and running for you again soon. We're starting to get a little colder again, and even dropping below zero at night, but still 10-20 during the day. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop in February--or perhaps I should say the bottom to drop out of the thermometer.
Hi B... All calm here weather wise, haven't had much snow, and actually below normal for us in January!!
As much as they carry on about the weather here I think it has been pretty normal !! Of course I have been around to see many winter's haha, where these young meteorologist, get all excited about things!!
Well I imagine Mr B.has been excited to play in the snow, moving it around!!
Love the photo's and especially love the way the main roads get plowed there LOL!! : )
Stay warm and dry!!
Grace
