First, thanks to everyone who commented on my last post about Comments being lost in "blogdom." As always, all your comments were appreciated and now, thankfully, the problem seems to be resolved. Now we are receiving comments from blogger friends, like Christer, and others again. Apparently, changing the Comments settings to "embedded" was the culprit. The "fix" was go to Design, (top of the Blogger page) select Settings and Posts and Comments, under Comments - Comment Location select "Popup window." Thanks to those fellow bloggers who commented that this is their preferred setting too.
Some bloggers use embedded comments to reply to posted comments and it seems to work for them. But, for us it caused problems. So IF anyone has a question and asks it within a Comment, we will either reply directly to your email address, if available, or within another post.
Rain is what we've had all week here on the VA eastern shore as have parts of Maryland and North Carolina and possibly other states. It's not unwelcome here, but after a mostly hot, humid and very dry summer, it's a lot at once, and late for the growing season. Here are some views from the front porch early this morning where the Frogs and lone penguin were keeping dry.
Grenville estimated that we were getting nearly 2 inches per hour as it poured off the rooftops.
Birds were fairly scarce during the downpours, but a pair of mourning doves, a lone mockingbird and a couple of sparrows were out. The starlings on a neighbor's roof seemed to be waiting out the storm, as was a lone robin. Meanwhile a couple of squirrels were dashing around in the front yard buying winter treats.
DInner is around 6 p.m. and there's plenty to share IF you can make it here — the Welcome mat is always out.

Glad to hear you got your blog problems resolved (for now, at least!).
I enjoyed seeing your photos.
Dinner sounds good! Hope you have a great day!
num num num on the pulled pork..i like the view from your front porch of the dreary rain.. and the middle of the collage with the water pouring off the roof is great...
It I could be there by 6, you would hear me knocking. Dinner sounds great. Rain. It's a mixed blessing sometimes. But when we need it, it's pretty welcome. Nice that it gives the excuse for a good dinner with friends!
At least you figured out the problem and the fix! That is a good computer problem. Can you call the US guvmint and help them please?
Dinner looks yummy!
Darn, I should have checked blogger friends yesterday ...I would have made it for dinner !!
Your pictures are lovely.
Loved your line-up of photos today, and the colorful collages. That dinner looks pretty good!
When the oven at the cottage wasn't working, the crockpot came in handy.
Hi there - Just wanted to answer your question about my watermark. I use Photoshop and choose the text tool. I can change the looks of it by using "effects", then changing the opacity of it so it's less obvious. I can move it around before I flatten the image by using the move tool. Don't know if you have Photoshop or not.
Wonderful photos and lovely to end up with a delicious meal. Have you posted this recipe before? Would love to have it. Those crockpot meals are always welcome in this house. The online search you mentioned is a good suggestion. We are back home and now have time to turn around, so will check that out! We arrived back yesterday and saw that the leaves are changing fast in this area. Had a great time but it is always good to be back home.
p.s. thanks also for the info on the comments.
