Love it. Yes, they know which way to go and know where they are when they return to places they have been before. I remember Penny as we pulled off the expressway at her Vet - who she LOVES. She literally said, "ruup roow!" We laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes.
If it had been a cat in the car, the answer definitely would be chauffeur, but since it is a dog... well, who knows. The dog is probably riding as security guard.
Now if it had been a possum in that car - the human would be part of the wait staff.
Altho it is a cute photo it always bothers me to see dogs with their heads hanging out of car windows. A good friend of mine had her dog blinded in one eye for just that very thing. (Sorry for the "downer" comment.)
