BUT the ice on the trees was worth it. We should have gotten out sooner but didn’t.
I bet this was even more spectacular earlier when the sun was just coming up. Unfortunately i was not up.
I mentioned a while ago about ‘Rat Trap Creek’. It is small by most accounts but it runs through a wonderful wooded area behind our property. Best part is the owner lets us go and ‘play’ in his woods anytime we want. We in turn pick up what little trash we find.
Soon we’ll be celebrating Muskrat Day since we don’t have any Groundhogs on the Shore. More on that next month. There will most likely be more great shots of our creek.

Great shots!
Hi Grenville...well my morning started out with white flake's and continued all day long...now I have big piles of white flakes..to the tune of 16 to 18 inches !! : }}
When everything is covered in ice it is beautiful!! Very hard to catch in a photo almost magical!
Thanks for the happenings in your neck of the woods! : }}
Slipin' and slidin'... yep, I know what you mean.
The sun coming through the iced covered trees is so breathtaking. Like diamonds.
Well I was up, but I sure wasn't OUT. I can fall on dry pavement, so being out walking by myself is never a great idea.
But the trees are nice seeing second hand!
That creek looks much like the one I often visit here :-) But we don´t have any musk rats here yet, but they are working their way more south every year :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
beautiful spot, yes we get that black ice here too it almost caused an accident while driving. One minute I was going north, then it spun me around completely
Thanks to all for the compliments on my vain attempt to catch the magical effect that ice and sunlight has. I hope you are having fun Grammie with all those white flakes and your new snow shoes. The ice diamonds in the trees almost makes the 'slipin and slidin' tolerable SSH. Remember Possum, if i hear you are out playing on the ice, i have duck tape and know how to use it :-). I could send you a Muskrat Christer. Even include a recipe. Funny about that directional change on black ice, isn't it Country Mouse. I've seen it a number of times at 70 mph on the Garden State Parkway.
I love how the trees, when iced over, glisten in the sunlight.
