Here’s my first (but not the last) sunset of 2011 photographed along a Pennsylvania highway on a winter Sunday afternoon. These images were taken with a Samsung digital camera while Grenville was driving on Route 222. We were enroute to our last family visit of the post-holiday season. Trees silhouetted in the late afternoon sky.
A lone church steeple . . .
And, a lone tree branch . . .
Changing sky colors provided dramatic colors . . .
These scenes show the beauty around us everyday.
The last few months of 2010 were a travel whirlwind for Grenville and myself. Thanks for following along on our road trips. We are planning on staying home at The Frog & PenguINN for at least a few weeks. (Yeah, right)

Very pretty images, especially for snapping from a moving car. Of course I really like the orange ones. Thanks for sharing
Hi Folks...on the road again...just can't wait to get on the road again...do you sing that when you get home or are you always glad to land for awhile??? Haha! : }
I really like the photo with the church steeple!!
They are all very nice but that's my favorite...
Drive safe!
A very nice sunset, I pull over a lot to catch digfferent angles, it doesn't slow you much.
That's making good use of your driving time. The sky certainly changes quickly, especially at that hour.
Beautiful drive time! You captured some lovely sky images.
222! WOW! What memories! I used to live on 222!
What beautiful pictures.
Great shots to be taken out the car window.
Will be glad when you get home. Be safe!
These came out so clear from the car windows/windshield? The church is my favorite and the reddish sky. Then I recall that old poem, "red sky at night, sailor's delight; red sky at morning sailor take warning..." You needed that trivia!
Excellent set of images! Always love sunset shots. The Steeple shot is so nice.
Hi everyone. Yes, these images were shot from a moving car because Grenville didn't think that stopping on the highway would be such a good idea :-)
No Grammie G, we usually don't sing on the road, but it sure will be good to get home on Tues.
Scott, I like the red-orange colors too.
Steve, carrying a camera all the time is definitely a good thing, especially when I'm not the one driving.
AC, the colors do change quickly at sunset and so beautifully too.
Pat, thanks for the piece of trivia, it's one that Grenville has said often as a former sailor.
Mona, I liked the steeple best too.
Possum, glad the photos brought back memories. See you realy soon.
Very lovely sunset Beatrice. Have you noticed that the winter sunsets are always so much more beautiful than those of summer. It seems the colors are always so crisp and brilliant.
Mama-Bug, yes you are so right becdause the winter sunsets always seem more vivid and maybe it is because of the colder temps. These colors amazed us for the last part of our journey before we arrived at our destination in Lancaster, PA.
