Mount Battie, located in Camden Hills State Park, offers sweeping views of Camden, Penobscot Bay, and surrounding islands. On a clear day, Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park is visible.
These views of Camden and the harbor were taken from the Mount Battie summit in early morning. The morning haze had not completely burned off.
The summit of Mount Battie is not the highest at about 800 feet but its prime location and bare summit ledges provide for outstanding panoramic views not only of the town of Camden, but also of Penobscot Bay.
The Memorial Tower on top of Mount Battie tower was constructed in 1921 to honor Camden men and women who fought in “the World War (1914-1918) as an “enduring memorial.” The tower was built using some of the foundation stones from the Mount Battie Club House, which stood on the site from 1900-1920. Poet Edna St. Vincent Millay , a former Camden resident, is said to have been so inspired by the tower that she wrote the poem, Renascence.
IF you’re travelling in Maine, plan a visit to Camden Hills State Park and Mount Battie, but hurry because the auto road is closed in winter, but you can hike to the summit.

Thank you for the beautiful photographs that remind of why I love Maine so much in the fall - in fact - why I love Maine PERIOD! I do believe it is the most beautiful state on the East Coast. How I miss living there - until the first snow flake falls... I remember my 14th birthday - it snowed! Sept 17th! How's that for a great b'day present?
Thanks for sharing the BEAUTY!
Beautiful, sweeping views. It's lovely there.
What gorgeous views! Thanks for another in your great series. :)
Hi Possum, you are welcome and glad you are enjoying our road trip adventures that remind you so much of your favorite place. WOW, snow on your birthday - what a great present!
Hi Mona & Lois, the Mt Battie views were outstanding and even though there was morning haze, we were thankful it wasn't fog like the day we visited Caddilac Mountain in Acadia.
what gorgeous vistas! Thanks for sharing them with us. :o)
I'm sure glad that everyone is enjoying Maine as much as we are. AND Possum, we have decided that you have to move back up here so we have a place to stay when we visit. Or maybe we should reverse that thought!!!!!
Thanks Krista for stopping by and for the nice comment too :-)
Gorgeous views! I love the two shots with the sun shining on the water.
