FYI – the following post does NOT reflect the views of Grenville & Beatrice, but these were just too funny not to share.
Wandering around Belfast, ME galleries and shops, we found a gift store with some strange and unusual items. All of these were being sold (no kidding). We had to contain our giggles, and you may need to do the same. By the way, we are sure that you won’t find the action figure toys shown below at your local toy store .
According to the packages: Marie comes with “removable head, dress and wig.” Casanova – more than just a lover, also a secretary, soldier, preacher, alchemist, gambler, violinist, spy, journalist, fugitive, author.”
Action figure Jesus comes with “poseable arms and gliding action.”
These items – and so much more – are available to wholesalers from Accoutrements. According to the website . . “We are not boring . . . we hate boring as much as you do. If you're looking for common, you've come to the wrong place.”

That is the weirdest stuff I've ever seen.
Hey! Think we could open one of these stores down town here? Whatcha think? Go**in's place is available, right? And I have contacts on the Planning Commission - I bet we could do it.
Whaddya say? Plus, there are more goodies - go to Unemployed Philosophers.com and see more fun stuff!
All that stuff looks like what you find in Perry's Nut House on Route 1. I believe it is around Belfast--I know it is north of Camden. If that wasn't Perry's then be sure to stop in Perry's as you head south. It is a hoot.
Scott, we generally avoid places like this which generally sell souvenir-type "stuff" but this was was just plain fun and the sales clerk was so friendly and chatty.
Hi Possum, not sure folks in our area would find these as amusing as we did, and some would most likely be offended (or have no sense of humor) or BOTH!
Wow, what cool stuff for your next party gift! I picked up a couple of cans of pork brains in a small store in Georgia that I had planned to give as gifts to some exceedingly brainy friends, but I haven't had the nerve to wrap and give them yet. ;)
Those are great! and wonderful posts on your travels too with great photos.
what scenery!
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful :-) :-) :-) No we really can´t find any of those things over here :-) but I sure wish we could :-)
Thanks for the laughs and have a great day now!
Christer.
Hey Sara, Perry's Nut House is on Rte 1 in Belfast and we stopped there, but the stuff wasn't nearly as funny (or irreverent) as these items found in a shop in downtown Belfast. Actually, the items in Perry's were rather mild by comparison and lots of souvenir-type items. Still it was fun to stop in and the fudge we sampled was delicious!
Lois, we saw several items that we thought would be "perfect" for folks we know back home, but not sure they would appreciate the humor :-)
Thanks Annie, glad you were able to catch up with us and our travels and thanks for the nice comments - the scenery is lovely, but then so were the sights you posted about on your road trip. The U.S. sure does have some great spots!
Christer, glad you got some laughs out of this post. I knew sharing would bring smiles. And, we didn't buy anything, but the looking was sure fun!
