Disappointing day, sort of

As i was waiting for the Camp group to meet this morning i happen to notice that i had an internet connection on my iPaq. So being the geek i am i went to check my email. Now i really didn’t expect anything, at least anything important. BUT sure enough there was one from the person in charge of the Ecology Camp. Seems that only 2 kids had signed up for next week (wonder why since school doesn’t get out till next Thursday) and they decided to cancel the session.

As i passed this on to our Master Naturalist folks lots of long faces were seen. We had all been planning and looking forward to this. Remember that if you want to make God laugh just tell him what you’re plans are for today…. go ahead….. even God like a good laugh.

So i headed home trying not to be to discouraged since there is a second session of Ecology camp in July (when there are lots of biting bugs out there).

One of the many side projects of the Green House was making a circle flower garden using the section of the Wild Flower garden that had to come out for the Green House foundation. In the end there was not nearly as much left over as we expected. BUT 15 bags of potting soil (could not find any top soil at a reasonable price) and a few pieces of slate that we had, a bird bath, some begonias, and a sprinkle of some mixed seeds and VOULA!!!!!! A circle garden.

Just added water, multi color solar lights (yep, the ones from the green house) and a flag from Beatrice and we now have a new place for flowers. So a down start of the day ended on an up note. Dinner at Annie’s wasn’t bad either!!!!!

Well, gee whiz, you did have a productive day. The circle garden is lovely.

Thanks Lois. It's amazing what some left overs and a few boxes of dollar store seeds can do. Maybe your cruise will head up the Cheasapeke and dock at Onancock so that you can come see it.

Looks pretty good to me! I haven't seen a circle flower bed in a long time!

Shame about the class! Maybe things will get better next one!

Thanks Lois and Jim. As i said, if you want to make God giggle, tell Him what you plan to do today.
The circle garden was sort of an after thought, but is taking on a life of its own. Beatrice has populated it with Frogs for security (photos to come). This give our drain field a new personality.
