Thanks ALL for participating in the What Are These? post the other day. Possum and Diana got BOTH correct. And, Christer and Chris were 50% right. (Sorry, Diana, the zukes are done for this season.)
First was a MAGNOLIA bud – here is the resulting flower.
Second was the leaf of a FIG tree – here’s the fruit.

I was only 50% right?
Magnolias are just so beautiful, but here in my village they just freeze to death every winter.
Have a great day now!
Christer.
Whoops Possum, my fault, you got both correct - corrected blog post to give credit!
Yes, I agree, Christer, magnolias are a beautiful and very BIG flower. A neighbor had a very large tree that toppled in a storm last spring barely missing his house roof. We're staying clear of any in our yard.
Well, no wonder I couldn't identify either of these! Strangely enough neither grow this far north. Yes, I have seen both when we've been traveling, but it's true that as you get older your memory starts to go--now, where was I going with this....
That's OK Elaine, cause I most likely couldn't ID a lot of the blooms in your posts as well. It was just a fun post.
