During our weekend jaunts, we came across this sight and sign – not as funny as the Woodle license plate, but still has us wondering…
This bicycle wheel was locked to a utility pool. Not only is the bicycle missing, but the tire as well. So much for removable wheels - handy for cyclists and thieves too.
Got bike?

That wheel is like having car radios that are protected. They can steal your car, but the radio is safe. :)
I guess that this is a picture of a paddle on a steam boat. If I am right, don't wake me up.
Ron
I feel confident that this is a paddlewheel too. That was what I thought when I first looked at the photo, but then when I enlarged the photo the name on the photo said paddlewheel. I think that confirms it, unless you are very devious....
Yep, looks like a paddle wheel, but who knows!
I saw that license tag - notice it was from Ohio. Figures. Ours on the Edge is Ohio, too: "CHIEFEN." No, it's not Chief Elmer Nugget. It's what they call the Chief Engineer in Norwegian Navy. ;)
I'm glad to be able to see your blog, even if briefly tonight. I'm checking in quickly via satellite tonight. I couldn't stand it any more! I'll be back on a land based cell on Sunday. Please send me an email, I'd like to share something with you. My email is in my profile.
Hugs,
Lois
I think it´s a wheel to a waterdriven mill (I just can´t guess like the others does even if I´m pretty sure it is a paddle wheel :-) :-) ).
I couldn´t help but laughing when I saw that bicycle wheel :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
Hi AC, OBR, Elaine, Lois, Christer -
YES, you are all correct. It is the back of a paddlewheel ferry. THANKS all for sharing in my fun!
AC - congrats are being the 1st correct answer!
Ron, we won't wake you.
Elaine - never thought about the photo ID; you're a smart lady to check that.
Lois - will send an email.
Christer - glad to see you are back online and yes the bicycle wheel was too good to pass up without taking a picture
I finally made it over for a visit. I will have tea, please. No sugar or cream. Pass on the home-made cookies. I'm on a diet.
Yes. Crisfield has been keeping me busy. We rev it up on the weekends around here now days.
I love your "biking" photos. Perhaps they are someone's idea of art. I love imagination. I wonder though, how many people walked by without thinking about that wheel, or even taking a photo of it?
It is too bad that AC, OBR, Elaine, Lois, and Christer named the mystery photo - or perhaps it is good because I was about to make a fool out of myself by saying it looked like the last fence me and my husband built.
Hope you can make it to Carb Derby. You have to see the crab races! You can even pick and crab and name him after Grenville.
I painted a bunch of NO WAKE signs one year for a local harbor master... Took one with me when I went to visit my SIL in Mich... put it on my door! Didn't work. She woke me up to "correct" my English. Made a sign for her door. NO HUMOR.
