In past years, we've travelled to RI to join in the festivities. But, of course, like with so many missed family events and holidays it wasn't possible this year. We joined in singing at a family celebration via video chat last night. Unfortunately, technology hasn't advanced enough to allow that wonderful looking cake to be sampled in NH.
Younger sister showed sibling affection.
Mom also posed for a selfie with her now taller-than-her son, difficult to see in this seated photo.

All three party celebrants obliged with a selfie. Until we can see family members again, phone calls and video chats will be the only way that milestones are celebrated.
We are so proud of the young man that our grandson is maturing into. We look forward to seeing him before his next birthday comes aroundand until then
Happy 🎂Birthday

Kids do have a way of growing up, don't they? Amazing how we stay the same!
Congrats to him, and I am glad that you were also able to share in the event virtually.. It helps.
That cake. Is it half and half inside or just outside? I mean I don't know how you would do it inside, but people are clever, so I thought i would ask.
It is always amazing to me and how quickly time goes by especially looking back. They all three look so happy and I really love the half and half cake. So sorry you didn't get to go for the celebration but this was next best
Happy birthday to your grandson. Such sweet photos of him on his special day.
What a great celebration...well documented in photos of the family. Yes, children remain those changeable sizes for just the first 18-20 years...and then pop! they're adults too!
Beatrice, Time does fly doesn't it! That is except when you are isolated from friends and relatives... Out youngest grandson just turned 17 and he's 6'2". The oldest will turn 20 this month and he's 6'5". Strangely my height seems to be headed the other way. Our son just bought Zoom for us so now we can at least see people when we're chatting with them. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
What a beautiful family and a handsome birthday grandson. They surely do grow up fast. Yes, hope that you get to see him and his family before too long.
Your grandson is very handsome. You know, our first grandchild was a baby boy named Bobby. Now he's forty. Time just seems to zoom right by us. Enjoy time with your lovely family even if it is via technology. I have a Portal so I can spend time with my family and join in the celebrations. I agree, it will be so nice if we could be with our friends and family in person next year. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
Happy birthday to your grandson. Scary how the years whizz by. Have a lovely weekend. B x
Happy Birthday to your very handsome grandson!
Yes, they grow fast these days. Hopefully, there's a good future in store for them.
Oh, this post warmed my heart! You can actually feel the LOVE in these photographs.
And you're right, that two-toned cake is AWESOME-looking (and delicious)! And I love those swirly candles.
Wishing your grandson and VERY Happy Birthday!
Thanks so much for sharing, my friend. Have fantastic weekend! I plan on making some nice hot soup because the weather this weekend is perfect for it.
14!!!??? What happened to that cute little boy I used to see in pictures? He had the same name.
Happy Birthday to him!
I long for the days when we'll gather again. But boy, tech is wonderful (apart from the cake tasting thing!)
It's heartwarming to see a joyous family celebration and the sweet photos of your grandchildren. I love that unusual cake and would definitely want to sample both flavors!
I think you still enjoyed the birthday party with your grandson. He also looks like he enjoyed the celebration. He has a great smile.
Happy birthday! They grow up so fast. :)
A lovely and a bit sad post. It is hard not being with our loved ones when it is their birthday. We missed both our grandsons birthdays this year. But we are pleased to know they can visit now as we have the virus under control in Oz. We are very lucky.
such a SWEET sharing dear Dorothy :)
happy birthday to your grandson ! may he see many many happy blessed returns of the day!amen!
these images are absolutely DELIGHTFUL !
oh ask me how eager i am to fax my meal for my eldest son ,i wish technology advance little more for moms and grand moms :)
more blessings!
Lovely to be able to video them directly.
Happy Birthday to the birthday young man - hopefully next year you can be there in person.
Jenny and I find time seems to go faster and faster. We can't believe how long we've been in our present house (11½ years). I love the half white and half chocolate cake. That certainly caters for all tastes!
Belated Birthday wishes, so nice to share the milestones using technology. hat would we do without it.
Happy Birthday!
What lovely photos Beatrice, thank goodness for technology. I'm still perplexed about how I got to be 72! and my grandson is now 17 and 6'3"!! That is a gorgeous looking cake.
He is quite handsome! As is the family. Next year you will hopefully be able to join him for 15, and maybe another split cake like that. I like that idea!
What beautiful children! And isn't stunning how fast the years fly by?
I can't believe that my two nieces, whom I used to bounce on my lap, are young women now.
Blessings upon you and all your loved ones.
'These days will pass.' That's the mantra this grandma is repeating to herself. My littlest is 2, and they change so quickly when they are that age! I feel as if I'm missing a great deal of her little life.
Hi Dorothy! :) What nice photos! Happy Birthday to Bobby! :)
That cake looks fabulous! Hope his birthday was wonderful. My son is also a Thanksgiving weekend baby.
That was an interesting cake.
