Happy 🎃ctober, everyone.
Yes, it's the color of the month on this downtown Nashua building and it isn't because orange is a seasonal color. This Main St building looks like it's right "in season," but the reason isn't to be decorative.
The reason is far more serious. This orange mesh covering is protection not just for the building but also pedestrians below. A couple of weeks ago some of the brick facade fell off onto the sidewalk. There were no reported injuries either to the building's occupants or passers-by. The barriers were put in place first, the mesh followed a few days afterwards.
The arrow above shows where some of the bricks had come loose and fallen off. As of this week, the covering was still in place and we were wondering if a large pumpkin face will be added, especially since those cones look like candy corn.
Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone.
Going to a couple of free outdoor concerts this weekend
We toured a NH "castle" & post to follow

I guess the orange makes something out of a bad situation.
Good solution to a problem. Hope they get it fixed before Christmas. I never thought of traffic cones as looking like candy corn, but won't be able to forget it now.

OMG...that is so funny because you're absolutely right, those cones DO look like candy corn. GREAT observation!
We too have had coverings on some of our buildings here in Philly because they're old buildings in repair.
Happy October to you too, my friend! I love this time of year.
Have a great time at the outdoor concerts this weekend.
you are right, those cones look just like candy corn... that is a little scary if i lived there, I might wonder if i would wake up on the side walk.. that wil be tough to fix i think
That mesh gives the building such an interesting fall color. It looks beautiful in a weird way.
Have a wonderful weekend.
When I first saw the building I thought you had added a fanciful color filter when processing the photo. Instead it was serious business! Good that no one was injured.
I never thought of it before, but those cones DO look like candy corn. I hope the situation will be able to be fixed soon. It's hard with these old buildings. You have a wonderful weekend, hugs, Edna B.
It's a good season for orange. Hopefully the repairs are in the process of being made.
Hopefully the repair work runs smoothly.
Beatrice, I remember that when we lived in Chicago, one of the skyscrapers 'shed' parts of its stone sheathing, destroying some vehicles below...and if I remember correctly, killing a passerby. The tower that our offices were in tended to build up ice on the sides under certain conditions. Very hazardous once the sun began melting the sheets of ice...and they started dropping. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
Bricks or tiles falling from a building - that's a big hazard.
Precautions should be taken, repairs should be quickly done before something bad happens, and someone gets hurt.
Happy October to you!
The mesh does look like a city welcome to autumn. Glad no one was hurt when that piece fell. I remember years ago after getting out of work, a friend and I were headed to our cars. A piece of glass fell out of a window in the building we just left. It hit my friend in the arm and I had to take him to the hospital to get some stitches. He was lucky it was his arm instead of his head. Have a great weekend and stay safe!
Scary!!
oh, you certainly don't want to have a brick or two falling on your head! However, I do like the idea of a pumpkin face on that building, it would be so much fun and definitely would put a smile on people's faces.
Orange to be very careful.
Not good the bricks coming out and a wise move to cover the building.
Even walking down the street is getting to be a hazard!
oh so the idea of using this color is taken from traffic signal to point out
beware or be careful right ?
in first look i thought it was seasonal pleasure to share with people passing by :)
Hi Dorothy :)) Oh I'd love to see a pumpkin face on that mesh! Good thing nobody got hurt!
Wow, that could have been a nasty accident. I guess they will be inspecting the whole thing now? Just the right seasonal coloring there.
How fun! Orange IS the color of the month and I love it!
Yikes to the falling bricks! The orange must be weird for looking out the windows though. Those cones really do look like candy corn!!
Goodness! Bricks falling ... a scary thought!
Oh my! I cannot imagine falling bricks Beatrice! That is super scary! I hope you be careful but I looove how you associate the colors into something fun! The cones perfectly match the netting as you said!
Very interesting.
