Friday Funnies

Today, is the start of what would normally be the biggest U.S. summer holiday — July 4. It's when communities would be holding Independence Day events from parades to fireworks. Sadly, most, if not all, events have been cancelled like here in Nashua, NH.

And, with all that's going on now, some photo humor was needed. Here's some photos applied to certain words or phrases. Let me know if you have any alternatives.

A lot that's going on in the world has me stumped (maybe you as well?)

Wood/would hope that one day we can see our family/friends and do more things.

Many folks are beginning to feel fenced in the past several months (who isn't?)

Lots of travel/holiday and other plans have been uprooted for so many folks (for us too).
Like many others, we're tired of restrictions and shutdowns, but know they're so needed.

Normally, families and friends would be gathering for backyard get togethers and BBQs this weekend. Many may still plan to meet in small groups with social distancing in place, but it won't be the same as in years past (big sigh).

🧨 Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
We're social distancing by the riverside with neighbors

Okay, that's a PERFECT photo for you phrase. And me too. Totally stumped by all the chaos and rage.

"Wood/would hope that one day we can see our family/friends and do more things."

HA! VERY clever!!! In fact each and everyone of these is clever. Well done!

Do you know that main thing I'm really tired of? The mask-wearing. OMG, I can't wait for the day when we don't have to wear them. It is waaaay too hot to being wearing a mask right now. That's why when I'm outside, the mask comes off. I only wear it when I'm enclosed with other people.

Fun post! Have a terrific weekend and 4th of July!

You are right, celebrations will not be the same, but perhaps some will be even better. I suspect that many people's habits will be permanently modified by the exigencies of Covid-19. Miriam's family is effectively a huge tribe, and every year around this time there is an annual picnic. I don't even know half the people, and clearly have little in common with them, and nor does she other than sharing the same distant ancestry. I am not keen on mass gatherings of any kind, and for me the perfect scenario is to have dinner with two or three other couples, in their home or mine, who share the same values and interests. That way I get to be with friends I choose to be with, not those I am thrown together with.

What a neat idea. Good way to use up photos you've taken. No social distancing at all for us on the 4th. We still have 3 days of quarantine to go after our trip to Buffalo last month. Can't believe tRump is going ahead with fireworks on the Mall in DC. No fireworks here in Columbia this year.

Well done. Hope that your Independence Day will be as festive as possible. I am spending mine alone. I think I'll read The Constitution.

Such a clever idea using word play and photos. I don't mind a lot of the changes. I don't get out a lot so I'm okay being at home. We can all still go outside and travel around or go for walks. I'm curious to see what the new normal will be. You have a great day, hugs, Edna B.

Beatrice, We too 'wood' hope to be able to see family and friends but our travel plans have been 'felled' and we feel 'corraled'. Good thing that we're re'tired' so at least our risks are limited as long as we keep a barrier up when around others. As for July 4th activities, one local town on the lake is having fireworks and a wealthy dentist who lives nearby is having a fireworks company anchor a small barge full of fireworks in the lake in front of his house. The lake will be full of spectators in boats, all socially distanced. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Yes it will just be another day of isolation. All the kids are else where along with all of our siblings.

It's refreshing to see creativity and an amusing play on words. I hope you'll do this again on a future post.

That's a lot of wood on the second photo - - but I was really STUNNED to see the size of those tires in the truck.

Unfortunately, Independence Day isn't very independent this year, but despite that fact I hope you will have a pleasant day.
I plan to have roast chicken, corn on the cob, and watermelon.

You are so clever and really hit the nail on the head with these!
We will be social distancing out here in the country and I am grateful to be here! Hamburgers will be grilled and I'm sure we will be working on some projects around here. Not the usual but it is what it is. We bought fireworks so our Sherry will light them up for us!
Enjoy your visit down by the riverside!
