My husband, Patrick (Grenville) celebrated his 🎂 last Wednesday. He read and appreciated all your well wishes — but doesn't share his treats (especially ice cream) can't you tell?
His day started with a walk downtown to a local coffee shop. Later in the day, we visited a local ice cream stand for hot dogs and a hot fudge sundae — his birthday food choices.
On Sunday, oldest granddaughter celebrated her 9th birthday with girlfriends at her RI home. We visited online earlier her as she opened our gifts. She liked the cookbook, baking utensils and the iTunes gift card.
As necessary, this year's celebration was very low-key without family members as in past years. Despite this, she had a good time with candle-blowing and gift opening.
Last year, her mom, and brother visited NH to celebrate. We're hoping that next year we can be together to celebrate her 10th and her grandfather's 72nd.

You couldn't get me to eat with with all those throw-away plastic spoons, plastic-lined containers etc which are going to pollute the earth, the waterways and the oceans. A great legacy for those delightful grandchildren. If we are not willing to take a stand we deserve the filth and pollution we get. Wildlife and the environment are innocent bystanders, however. The turtle with a plastic straw stuck in its nostril, the gull with the plastic ring from six packs around its neck, the albatross with a bellyful of plastic, the dead whale so polluted its carcass was declared toxic waste. Yep, let's just keep doing it.
Patrick and his ice cream are not easily parted.
If I were there for Pat birthday celebration he would have to fight me for everything on his plate. For my birthday I would choose exactly what he chose or a hamburger. That's my choice for birthday food. It looks really good I can't believe Ellie is 9 years old. I remember she was just a baby when we first met and here we are 9 years later
I'm sure this will be a birthday Ellie will remember for a long time. And I wouldn't share my ice cream either. Enjoy! Have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
It's so nice to have a summer birthday and be able to celebrate with ice cream and outside fun. So glad they both had a good day despite all this quarantine and social distancing. Next year will be better. Happy birthday to Patrick and Ellie!
Glad they both had a good day in spite of the separation. Hopefully you will be able to get together next year.
Looks like lovely celebrations all around. Hopefully next year everyone can get together. Imagine that!
Beatrice, Wow! Belated happy birthday to both Grenville and your granddaughter Elle! Too bad you missed her party and that ya'll celebrated alone. Great birthday food choices. We think alike as you'll see in one of my upcoming posts when we celebrated my birthday. FYI...Mr. Gascoigne was a bit harsh with his comments! We avoid all those things too but come on, it's a birthday celebration! Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
All that celebration food looks yummy. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to share. Patrick looks like he would hurt anyone who approaches his ice cream.
This year birthdays will be quite different.
OMG, I always love your photographs of your family because they always look like you're having so much fun! You can literally feel the joy and love you share with one another. It just POPS off the photos!
"ice cream stand for hot dogs and a hot fudge sundae"
What great choices! There is nothing quite as delicious as an all-American hot dog with mustard! Sometimes I even enjoy some relish!
And that birthday cake looks so beautiful. Love the colors!
Wishing you husband and granddaughter a VERY Happy Birthday! Thanks so much for sharing the festivities!
Sweet! Looks like happy birthdays for both!! :)
That looks like a great celebration and here’s to the one next year when you can be with your darling family 😊
Fun pictures. Happy birthday to both. Looks like everyone had a good time in spite of COVID 19.
And a good time was had by all, happy birthday to the two of them
Big happy birthday wishes to ALL! It looks like loads of fun, even if you couldn't be together.
