A new challenge

Yes folks, after the tests finished (and I confused some of you, sorry), and I read all your great feedback, I've decided to see just how many useful things can be done with an iPad. Not that I would trade my notebook in, but the more I use this thing the more I like it (hope Beatrice doesn't hear that one).

Of course blogging is at the top of the list. Especially when I can do it wherever I am (like now on the front porch). And i can take a picture with it and pop it into my post. All thanks to that $4.99 purchase of Blogsy.

Next would be reading news (In case my depression level is low) and watching the weather including the local radar with 'my radar'. Of course there is email. Now I don't have to wait till the evening to find out the price of Mexican Viagra, or how to enlarge or reduce certain body parts, or most importantly, read the comments from our loyal friends in the blogosphere.

I like to read mysteries but don't always get to the library. But having a kindle account, and an iTuneU account and as of today an ePub account at our local library, I can get books any time I want. I can store the on my iPad or store it in the iCloud (wherever that is).

And of course have pics of the grands at the ready just in case someone feels the need to see the darlings (good being a grandpa).

I can buy things on Amazon and eBay, and kindle and the Apple Store with just a flick of the finger. Now that could be dangerous. Good thing my philosophy is still "if it's free, it's for me".

Although I did breakdown and bought pages and numbers so I could see and work on stuff between my iPad and MacBook. For non-macers those are the apple versions of word and excel. Not that I use them that often but it is easier than dragging the notebook to meetings.

One of my favorite apps is "to-do". It keeps track of what I am supposed to be doing. It's perfect for the procrastinator ,like me, because you can change the due date with just two flicks of the finger. A lot of work but it's worth it. AND it syncs to my iPod and the MacBook (that cloud thing again). Dang I'm getting geekier by the day. Last night I flabbergasted my daughters by texting them, something I swore I would never do. Shannon, in Dallas on business, was amazed, and Coleen didn't believe it was me. What a world.

Well enough for today. There is the iPad with this post just waiting to publish. Time for some 'Spider Solitare'.....

Grenville

Is it a bit fiddly typing? The keyboard doesn't look very big. You wrote your blog on it. How does it compare to the normal PC?

I have an iPad that was issued to me through work. I've still got a lot to learn about how to use it. Sounds like you're making good use of yours.

I haven't tried them, but size wise they would nicer when one needs to carry one.

delightful post about your IPAD, just came from Madi and Mom and Madi the cat is complaining about Mom paying more attention to the IPAD than to Madi, so I will be waiting to hear complaining on this blog soon
