It’s Raining . . .

POURING is a better word — 0.6 of an inch in 30 minutes according to Grenville’s weather station. Friday is our grass cutting afternoon, luckily we got out early and finished just as the first drops started pelting down.

Porching it can’t be beat during a summer rainstorm; we sat in our favorite rockers watching the downpour — until the winds started gusting to 30mph with accompanying claps of thunder and lightning.front yard rain0622Photos were taken from the back door and thru the kitchen window. backyard rain0622Shooting from inside gave some unique effects. These photos were taken shooting through the window and screen – no after-effects.

It’s still raining and more storms are headed this way throughout the night. The rains are a welcome relief to water the gardens and bring a cool down from the 90+ temps of the past several days. We hope your weather isn’t too stormy or HOT.

UPDATE: average gas prices here as of this a.m . . . double YEAH !

I love your rain photos! We don't have a porch at this house, but I loved to sit on the porch at the last house and enjoy the rain. So refreshing on a summer day. Wishing you a happy weekend.

It rained all night here and the coming week will bring us even more water from the sky. But the sun will peak out between the clouds every now and again so I hope it will be a bit warmer than it is right now.

You know what I think about Your petrol prices :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

Gratitude for things going down:
So grateful for the rain and not having to water the garden today.
And the resultant drop in temperatures!
Also overjoyed at the drop in ga$ price$.

We drove through some heavy rain and storms on the way home from the beach last evening. Was thankful it didn't last too long.

Your photos of the rain are beautiful! Our gas is $3.18,...inching down and I like!

we saw 3.15 on gas yesterday when we went out for lunch. my favorite rain photo is the shed through the drops of rain and second is the first front porch. i love to sit on a porch and watch he rain. have not done that for many years. i do stand and watch it through the sliding glass door. they told us 70 percent chance of rain the past 3 days and nary a drop yet, THEY are saying lots of rain on the way he next 3 days. we are hoping THEY are right this time

John, Yesterday's rain was very welcome as we haven't had consistent rainstorms; today is hot and muggy and rain-free.Thanks for the updates.

Susie & Daisy, would gladly send some your way, how about Monday when we're due for more?

Mildred & Elaine, one of the great features of this old house and one which attracted us was the front porch. We will certainly miss that when we move on, but for now we're enjoying it and during rain storms it's a great place to sit.

Possum. grateful is a good word for both.

Doris, glad to hear PA gas prices are lower than here cause we're heading back and will be in your area around mid-July. Hope you had a fun beach day - before the rains.

Sandra, those last couple of rain photos ere fun because the special effects were done at the time of shooting, not afterwards. Shotting through a rain-streaked window and/or screen produces great results! YEAH on the lower gas prices - you beat us. We're suposed to get more rain on Mon; hope you get some...one day soon!

We've had lots of heat but not much rain in our corner of northern VA, but areas around us got pretty clobbered too.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend and getting lots of porch time! :-)

Hi Kim, maybe your turn for rain will come in the next few days, hopefully. Not much porch time this weekend, as the humidity levels are up there making it uncomfortable.
