A while ago our friends at VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) decided that the top coating they put on our roads was not looking very good. It took 5 years for them to make this decision. Of course if they had just asked anyone in town we could have sped up the process, and gotten them to the same conclusion at light speed. Maybe even as the oil and stone were falling out of the trucks.
Well last month the boys from VDOT returned. This time to prep the roads. But they weren't sure what for. Don't want to give out to much info at a time. Terrorists are everywhere. The rest of the story is visual. Sorry they are not as good as Beatrice would produce. Her pics are the first three (i just did the editing) and mine are the last from this morning.
The Big Sweep
The Big Scrape
The Big Pickup
The Flurry of the Slurry
As i am finishing this post the Slurry Slushers are sliding down the street in front of our house. We had a call from our Realtor wondering what was going on over here. I left a message about the resurfacing and that this would surely drive buyers to us, so she should start interviewing now for an assistant. I think "Freshly resurfaced roads" is better than "Freshly painted interior". Lets face facts here, its not often you get your road resurfaced. Too bad our side road is still the width of a wide driveway. You have to hope there is none else coming the other way cause there ain't no room for two.
As a parting shot i thought you would like one of the Chief SlurryMiester. Wasn't he on a Capital One ad?????? "Whats in your Slurry??????"
Well after all that activity I'm bushed. Time for a nap. Then a check for tomatoes…. Have a great weekend.

This is surely a supreme slurry story. You really made me care.

I guess it's the same story all around when it comes to roads :-) The big road outside my village is really in need of new top coating but I'm afraid they not even have started to think about it yet :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
Well, I agree, a newly resurfaced road sounds like a good selling point!! Expect a flood of people to come and see your place on your smoooooth new(ish) road! I see a great big SOLD in your future!! :)
A slurry of activity.
Having lived on a private road for 25 years, I find this story very news-worthy. Our homeowners assoc would have loved to have VDOT take care of the road. I think you took some great pictures of the activity.
Tar for that Grenville. I presume slurry is what we call tar over here. Ta means thank you. Ta and tar. Tar for that. A play on words. Oh never mind. Think I need a nap too.
This looks like quite a process. Hope it helps with the house sale!
Once again, you cause me to laugh =) Maybe the same luck will be ours when we list our home for sale!
