Last weekend follows up an earlier post this week. That one featured an outdoor sports car show in Hudson, NH, as the first free event that day. Later on Saturday afternoon, we went to a(nother) free event downtown event. The Nashua Summer Stroll was within walking distance of our mill apartment home, so no parking space needed.
Main Street was blocked off to vehicular traffic for several blocks from mid-afternoon to early evening. Municipal garages provided free parking as there were limited on the street options on side streets, where meter parking was enforced.
As expected on a Saturday afternoon, all the downtown restaurants on Main Street were open, but with waiting times at most. A quicker food option was to buy food from the various street vendors. The usual fare included hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, fried dough and ice cream — all the food groups at such an event.
The Nashua Fire Department gave children and adults the chance to sit in one of the trucks. Many did so, but not in the photo above.
This event was sponsored by Positive Street Art, a Nashua non-profit which provides educational workshops, community events, and artistic services. PSA has painted many large murals in the downtown area, including the two above.
Last weekend was a great one to be outdoors. Unfortunately, this upcoming weekend is predicted to be a rainy one. The local library, as part of its ongoing Sunday Cinema Classics is showing the 1973 film, The Sting. It's a good indoor option, and also Free.
Welcome to a new month of what has been a warm hot summer for many folks. We hope that your adventures, whether near or far, have been as wonderful as our own with more to come for all.

sounds like fun free events in your area.
Happy August

...WOW, Nashua is the place for a summer stroll! The Chalkboard Canvas Car is neat as is the Positive Street Art program!
Nice to have such a fun event close by.
Think I’ll pass on this one. A walk in the woods is more to my liking.
That looks like a great summer event. Love those murals are beautiful!
It looks like we have to get used to this heat though. We are not fans! We have the golden grand-dog for two weeks and plan our walks for a beach to keep her cool and keep our sanity as she burns off some of that boundless energy.
Take care, you two!
that is great all this festival was walking distance. I would like to see the street dancing. Have only seen that on TV and movies and videos.. the mural is beautiful.. much talent there. a lot of fun and for a good cause...
In my area outdoor events taper off during the hottest weather in July and August, but September and October will be jam-packed.
Thank you so much for sharing such full of life and fun images dear Dorothy 😊
I really enjoyed the glimpse of outdoor exciting events.
I loved how people were given free hand to chalk art on cars 🤗
Never saw such thing before :)
Hope your 73 cinema will bring more colour to rainy week 😊
Hugs and best wishes
What a fun outdoor activity! Glad you have the option of a good old movie next weekend! Loved seeing families enjoying the day! I wish that the heat weren't so bad this summer.
This looks like a good time. We had community events in my St. Paul neighborhood. It's different here.
I love your small town atmosphere and all the things you are able to enjoy. Free is always the best.
Great photos too.

When my father was town marshal he was also chief of the volunteer fire department. On the occasions that called for a parade we got to sit up on the hoses and wave. Such fun.
Looks like a really fun event with a lot of participation and enjoyment!!
You got great candid shots of this event. And I am getting so hungry looking at these vendors! I love the bubbles mural!
You had many interesting shows.
Hi Beatrice, While we loving living in a planned community along the lake without the hustle and bustle of a downtown areas, your photos are proof of the positives of living downtown or close to it. For us to experience the same types of events, we'd have to drive and then find a place to park, etc. Looks like fun though... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
The summer stroll is a great idea. It brings people together and provides a lot of fun and conviviality. Positive Street Art is excellent. We're getting a lot more murals here in Belfast. But no summer stroll as yet!
I've never seen a chalk painted car before. That is really interesting. And it looks like a fun time. I hope you have a super weekend ahead. hugs-Erika
That's so great that it was close to home and you didn't have to drive to it! So much easier to enjoy when not having to fuss with the aggravations of parking for a big event! It looks like loads of fun and a great summer day out!
You seem to live in a good community, if I may say the=at FREEly.
Local events are the ones I like best, especially when they're free. It seems that everyone had a good time - and wonderful that you were able to walk there, that's even better!
This looks quite an affair, especially when it's so close to home.
I love these outdoor events.
We have Summer Strolls in my neighborhood in Brooklyn and I was all set to go out Friday night, but it was raining. Bummer.
