Friday Funnies

This post will ask a question and the reveal will be given as well.

The question is — What's in the Box?
This box was delivered from Amazon earlier this week.
This is the wrapping that was inside the box. Are you ready to see what was below this paper?
Ready or Not — Here's WHAT was in the box, just 2 items: a camera battery and filter.

This seems like a really big packaging overkill !
How about You — ever received an oversize package with very small contents?

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
We'll be in Cape Cod; Grenville is doing a Lighthouses on the Air ham radio event

...online shopping will soon cover the earth with packaging!

That box looks way too big for that package. We haven’t had any similar experiences in recent memory. Have a great weekend.

almost every package we get from Amazon is in a box many times larger than needed, but when there is a battery inside, the box is really big. I knew there was a battery inside because that sticker is there to warn everyone there is a battery. they can explode and its against the law to mail them without the warning sticker. my iPad came in a huge box, and it is 11 inches and flat. but it has a battery

Oh, yes. And always from Amazon. Often they split two items like that into separate packages, then deliver them at the same time.

No wonder we are burying ourselves in garbage. The only purchases I make online are books, and never from Amazon, and they always arrive sensibly packaged.

Yes, Amazon seems to overdo it!

At least the items came in a recyclable box and not a plastic envelope.

It seems to be a common thing.

Well, at least the item wasn't damaged or lost!

We've had packages like that.

Nice tidbit btw. 😊 (I hope you weren't offended by that comment. It was said in jest.)

Huge box and that crumpled paper really will do nothing to "protect" your items. Crazy..we get that type of packaging all the time too.
Enjoy your weekend and the ham radio event. Sounds like fun.

Someone should buy some smaller boxes. I've had the same thing happen to me.

No offense taken, AC😀

Oh yes! I posted about one several months ago--LOL! You almost have to wonder if it is a joke by a bored packer. :)

What kind of filter did you get? Yes, a lot of my packages have much larger boxes and a lot of packing. But I would rather have too much then not enough.

Often I get packages that were meant for a washing machine that are only holding a thimble.

We sometimes get these oversized boxes compared to the contents as well. But as long as the space is filled up with paper like in your photo, I take it anytime over those horrible bubble and plastic mailers. And I keep the box for my business when someone puts in a huge order (which sometimes happens).

It's a 52mm UV filter to be used as lens protection on a digital camera.

Hi Beatrice, 80% of our Amazon shipments show up in oversize boxes. Fortunately, cardboard is one item we can recycle in our area. Also ironic in your photo is the fact that they've provided plenty of extra fuel for the lithium ion battery should it get cranky. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Yup, I get them all the time. But on the other hand, a small package is apt to be more easily lost or slipped into a dark spot, even in the delivery truck and missed for a few days. I've had that happen to me.

Oh Yes. Amazon frequently does that.

We have friends that worked as packagers at Amazon and they too were amazed at the waste of cardboard when shipping small items. The computer tells you which box to use and you do not dare deviate from what the computer tells you.

Amazon are so bad at that, it's very wasteful. I hope you are enjoying yourselves at Cape Cod, and Grenville is enjoying his radio event :-)

Yes, frequently. It is weird but reading a comment above, it looks like warehouse workers are told what size box to use by a computer. That seems weird, too.

Oh yes, that happens... Kind regards to you.
