Friday Funnies

Here is the first, but not the last, Friday Funny for 2024.

Most of us have heard the expression to eat your word(s) as it applies to admitting that you were wrong about something.

Not only can I do that now, but the words will be enjoyable. Let me explain.

Scrabble is a game I often play here with another resident. She's 94 years young and an avid player who often wins. She gifted me with this ↓ at Christmas. Because of the small box, I thought was a travel version, at first.
It was not, instead it's a Milk Chocolate Edition in which players can really eat their words.
My friend and I will be playing and enjoying this version very soon. However, unlike the regular game, this one has consequences in the form of calories.
I received another game, a non-edible Mexican Train Dominoes game from Patrick who gave me this travel set before Christmas. We've taken it on a couple of recent trips and played without fear of gaining weight.
Yes, it is much easier to play with numbers vs. dots although we have full-size sets of both.

Your turn — Anyone else enjoy playing Scrabble or dominoes?

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
Winter storm watch here; total snow accumulations over 6 inches possible

We used to enjoy playing dominoes... I notice! Am I even still playing?
Well, I like to go for a walk in the forest... I like to sew, I got out the knitting needles... oh yes, my physiotherapist said I should do regular exercises... so I go to the gym and do that there.. .maybe I can find someone to play with...
a happy 2024 to you. Playing is wonderful. Have fun.

I occasionally do a jigsaw puzzle, so that counts.

Not for the calorie conscious. We used to play Scrabble frequently, but haven’t done so for a couple of years now. No reason, just fallen out of the habit. In cleaning up a shelf recently we did find Boggle and have been playing a couple of games each day since.

Happy New Year, Dorothy & Patrick!!
Those are both great gifts. I haven't played dominoes in a very long time, but had tried painting some tiles for pendants a while back. I used old Scrabble tiles (painted) in a gift someone bought from me for a friend with her name spelled out on the tile holder. I also have "Ron n Mary" in Scrabble tiles on the holder sitting on a table nearby because our 40th anniversary was the end of last year.
As for playing either game, we did used to like Scrabble. I think we might have a plastic turntable type board with a handle. Been a while since it's been out of the closet. We have a paperback 'official' dictionary too.
Our game is Yahtzee!

I think we're now just expecting a lot of rain here.

I've admittedly eaten my words many times, but it was never as enjoyable as an edible Scrabble game. Since the Mexican train dominoes aren't edible, you won't have to worry about heartburn *smile*
Six inches of snow?? Stay warm and cozy. Good time to make homemade soup.

We were gifted new games so we could play board games on New Year's Eve as is the tradition in our home. What a thoughtful gift from your friend! I enjoy playing Scrabble.

My mother and I played scrabble a lot when I lived at home. Scrabble was the only game i had a chance of winning. my brother won every game of checkers, even chinese checkers and games of candyland and monopoly, he always won. I finally quit playing with him. the only game he would not play with me was scrabble, because although he graduate college with honors and I never went, he could no spell. all kinds of degrees but spelling is not on the list. the chocolate would be fun but at end of game, no more chocolate except where you don't want it. ha ha

Oh, I would go with the edible Scrabble. Yum. Funny that I received a real Scrabble set from my sister for Christmas. We haven't played it yet.

I have t played Scrabble in years. It is a game that I played often in the past. That box of chocolate is a thoughtful gift from your friend. I have been enjoying recently an on-line game — Skip-Bo. One of my granddaughters introduced me to the game.

I'm not the game playing type. Whenever I'm gifted a game, I pass it on to others.

We always have a jigsaw puzzle on the go. The current one is a real challenge!

Now that's what I call a sweet gift. Very clever and I like your "train" game. I think the numbers would be easier than the dots.
I have played dominos with my daughter in law and her family. fun even if I loose most of the time.

I have never played dominoes but played scrabble some when I was a kid. I am not really interested in games, although I do play solitaire.

Both games are great fun. I'm afraid I would have consumed both sets by now.

Never played Dominoes but played some scrabble when I was a kid. We played a lot of board and card games growing up. I'm glad the grandboys like board games and card games, too. These days I play solitaire on my phone but that's about it. I'm more excited about making cards and some such. ;)

OH yes, we enjoy Dominoes mostly. I enjoy Scrabble, but haven't played it in a while. I think I'd have to stay away from the "eat your words" version! LOL. Oh, a winter storm? Be careful, and stay inside and enjoy it from the window! And play more dominoes and scrabble! Happy new Year!

I haven't played scrabble for yours. I did enjoy it.

I love the idea of eating my words. Esppecially since those words are chocolate. I think I need to go find some chocolate right now. hugs-Erika

I am not much good at Scrabble, but I am pretty good at chocolate. It has been ages and ages since I played dominoes. We did have a game of Phase Ten with the kids today.

Hi Beatrice, We really aren't board games aficionados. We do like Mexican Train though and given my better half's affinity for chocolate, I suspect those game pieces would be gone before we actually completed the game. We do some trivia though...but just quizzing each other to see if we still retain any facts about anything. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

Jenny and I play Scrabble a lot. It takes a bit of skill and ingenuity and is less taxing than chess which requires you to keep any number of possible scenarios in your head at once! I haven't played dominoes for a very long time.

I play Scrabble every day...usually to help me fall asleep to be honest! I'd love that chocolate version!

I love Scrabble, although I haven't played in a while. And I don't recall eating the pieces.

I never played dominoes, but I'd like to give it a try.
