All in the Family

Summer is once again wedding season in our family. Last year the celebrations were on Beatrice's side of the family when two nieces were married. A couple of weekends ago, we joined Grenville's family to celebrate the wedding of Matt and Samantha in Stonington, CT. (The groom is the son of Grenville's first cousin.)
This happy event was a great time for us to see all three grandchildren together. Bobby and Ellie live in RI and Lilliana lives in PA.

Grandpa Grenville was all smiles too. Bobby will attain teenager status in December and Ellie is 8 this month. Lilliana will be 3 years old, also in December.
Grenville was also happy to spend time with daughters, Shannon (L) and Coleen (R) who are shown with their children. The last time the family was all together was in December, thankfully not too long ago as the grands are growing up very fast; of course, the adults are not.

Lots of smiling faces all around despite a very hot afternoon (the photographer usually  isn't in the picture).
Shannon and boyfriend, Harlan, and Coleen and husband, Paulo, who hadn't been feeling well for several days before the wedding.
The groom's parents, Ellen and Jeff (lower left) were all smiles at the reception as were other family members, including ourselves.

It's long been held that weddings and funerals are times when families reunite. If that belief holds true, we much prefer the happier occasion of these two life events.

happy for both of you that you got to see family all in one place, these days that is a hard thing to do. when first we met all three grands were very small and now even the baby is 3. wow. how time flies.

Very nice pictures of a lovely occasion. I agree with you that seeing family at a joyous occasion is much better than seeing them at a somber occasion.
