Last weekend, we were driving on highways through our home state of NJ returning from a weekend in PA. And, we noticed this car, definitely was not a "woodie"
Instead, it was a Honda sedan but it was carrying 2 surf boards on its roof.
We stayed a distance behind in traffic and watched the boards move slowly downward.
These boards seemed to move lower on the back window during the time we watched them.
They did NOT fall off.
Still, we were glad when the driver turned off an exit ahead of us.
Enjoy the U.S. Labor Day weekend, Everyone.
If traveling South, take caution due to tropical storm activity.
A word of caution from Grenville "Standing water, turn around, don't drown."

very dangerous for the people behind them. my aunt and her daughter were riding behind a car with a sheet of plywood on top just like this, it broke and flew into their windshield and if she had not been hanging back and slammed the breaks they could be dead. people do crazy things
Agreed that people do crazy and unsafe things, Sandra. I have seen some online videos of things flying off vehicles and into lanes of traffic and they have been really scary. Glad you aunt and cousin were not hurt.
I'd be wary driving behind that.
That doesn't look any too safe to me. Perhaps they should have taken some back roads and not gotten on the highway. Glad no one was hurt.
That would worry me too to be driving behind that car. I hope they arrived to their destination safely. Have a nice weekend!
Oh, my. We are on the road now, hiding from Hurricane Hermine in Columbia, SC, Hampton Inn for a day. She's passing here right now. We've seen some mighty strange things on the road this trip. I'm sure we'll have even more strange images tomorrow as we head into FL. Gotta catch a ship on Sunday in Port Canaveral. ;)
That could be Hawaii.
Let's go surfin now
Everybody's learnin how
Come on a safari with me.
Glad they didn't come off!
It wouldn't be long before the wind got under them and off they go!
I don't think I have ever seen surfboards on a Honda Accord before. You never know what you come across when driving on the freeway.
I agree with Sandra...this was very dangerous of them and could have cost someone their life.
I do hope your weather is pleasant and that you both will have an enjoyable weekend.
Congrats on your patriotic purchases (from you next post in case I don't get back to it when it goes live).
Unsecured loads on cars or trucks are particularly hazardous here in the mountains. I can't count the number of times I've had to stop because someone lost their kayaks, garbage bags, tree limbs, lumber, etc. Sometimes I pull off the road for a while to let them get on up the mountain. I'd rather pull off for a while than take a chance of being in harm's way.
