Best wishes from Grenville and myself to Everyone for a safe and glorious July 4th celebration — wherever and however, you will be celebrating. We know that some folks will be travelling to picnics, barbecues, parades and fireworks. We’re travelling too, but much less, under 5 miles, to enjoy several events. (These images are from past years’ events. )
Tonight’s it’s the CommUnity band concert and ice cream social in neighboring Onancock. All that’s needed is a lawn chair and a liking for ice cream with toppings added. Tomorrow, July 4, brings not one, but two more BIG events for these parts (remember, we live in a small area) — the annual Accomac non-motorized 4th of July parade AND the Eastern Shore Public Library’s Firecracker Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. (FYI Grenville came up with that slogan a couple of years ago. It’s been in use ever since with a tagline he also created: explode your mind.)
As Friends of the Library members, we’ll be spending a couple of hours at the library today helping to sort books AND getting a first look at sale items. All the books have been donated and there are always great bargains. Funds raised by the Friends support library projects.
We’re stocking up on paperbacks for our upcoming road trip.
More on those plans later.

Have a happy holiday. Ours is over.
I have decorated my bike many times for these celebrations each year.i bought a traditional watermelon to eat with some fried chicken.
We will go downtown to watch the kids on their decorated bikes and wagons. Ribs on the grill but otherwise indoors away from the hot weather. Have a great 4th!
Have a poppin' 4th. sandie
bring on the parade, we don't have them here. and the library sale is a great idea.
We will watch a parade in Lititz this evening. Ellen loves a parade! Aidan and Zoe will come with us too. Tomorrow is a work day around here. We hope to accomplish much =) Then we'll sit on a hill and watch the Lititz fireworks. We'll enjoy our 4th even though it won't be much of a celebration =)
Wishing you a happy and safe 4th!
I love these photos! Sounds like a great celebration. Have fun!
We have limited our celebrating due to the heat but we are now headed to the neighbor's house for homemade ice cream and we are taking cupcakes. Red, white and blue cupcakes of course.
Our library book sale is still a couple of weeks away. We always have big crowds come out for it. Happy 4th to you! I hope you had a great day.
