Back Yard Visitors

Our bird feeders have been attracting the usual visitors this time of year: cardinals, finches, sparrows, chickadees, mourning doves, and blue jays .
feeder visitorsAll these shots were taken from the kitchen window inside as I enjoyed my morning coffee and the activity at the feeders. The white lights seen here are permanent ones that overhang the back patio.

I love to bird watch. The elderly couple I stay with have 2 feeders outside their kitchen window. One day there were at least 7 or 8 cardinals. Beautiful! Yesterday I watched a bunch of doves...one was a bully! Tuesday I saw what I think was a hawk. I see woodpeckers, a blue jay once in a while, wrens (they are such messy eaters!), finches....

Love your photos!

Great collages and photos, Beatrice! You have quite a good mix of feathered friends at your feeder. :-)

So that's where all of our burds went! I've been too ill to climb the ladder to fill the feeders and it seems as if all the birds went to greener pastures....at your house!

I've got a big crowd at my feeders too, but not anywhere near the variety you have!

Love them all, except the starlings who vandalize the feeders, but felt the same way for years about squirrels so learned to love them all and buy more food.

Yeah, the little fellows seem real hungry these days. The hawk came by last week, got a sparrow. Haven't seen him since. Maybe the sparrow wasn't all that good... Now if he would catch some of the cow birds.....
BTW, good shots.
Ready for the snow Sunday?

Well, I have had NO birds at my feeders this winter. Very weird. And yes, they're full of fresh seed, etc. I think it was too nice for too long. FYI: The new word verification Blogger has come up with is so frustrating. Go check the post about it from Run A Round Ranch Report's blog.

Such a pretty variety of birds! I love blue Jays although they are aggressive.

It is very relaxing for me to watch the birds. You have a good variety and have taken some wonderful pics. Have a great weekend.

Hi Doris, watching the feeder show is a favorite a.m. activity while being indoors with a cup of coffee.

Thanks Daisy, we do get quite an assortment, even unwelcome birds.

Grace, yes these visitors were tweeting while awaiting their turns at the feeders - good point! Glad you got the package, Happy Birthday!

Hey Chip, since all the burds have come here you can "chip" in for some of the birdseed. Thankfully, I don't have to stand on anything to fill these, thank goodness.

Hi Grace, some days I don't feel like refilling ours, gbut then would miss all this entertainment, which isn't really "free" considering how much seed they can eat!

Steve, thankfully no squireels here at the feeders...yet.

Possum, our resident hawk got a male cardinal a few weeks ago (sadly). Last week we found lots of feathers in the back yard, so maybe another victim. Maybe cowbirds and starlings don't taste too good? Yeah for snow!

Mona, no bird- how sad, but then you do spot those lovely snowy owls and lots of other great winged creatures. I'll check out the new word verification process as you are the 2nd person to comment on it.

Yes Kathleen, our bluejays are aggressive and don't share well including with other jays!

Thanks AC & Mildred and a great weekend to you both.

Theresa, they really are such fun to watch and thanks for the visit and comment.

Thanks Carole, we agree!

Larry, sadly there is no snow other than the dusting we got last weekend :-(
