Friday Funnies

Follow the leader seemed to be the name of the game on the Nashua River this week.
It could have been ducks in a row, if there were any Mallards. Still, humans and geese were keeping in a (somewhat) straight line.

The geese family is blurry as the photo was taken from our 5th floor window using a cell phone; I no longer own any zoom lens digital camera, which would have come in handy.

Summer is slowing arriving in many areas here in New England. Despite the current state of world events, and perhaps in spite of it, we going out for some sun 😎 and a walk, weather permitting. We're due for a rainy 🌧 part of the weekend.

In the U.S., today, June 5, is National Doughnut (or Donut) Day celebrated annually on the first Friday in June. The event dates to 1938 when the Chicago (IL) Salvation Army held a fundraiser in honor of members who served doughnuts to soldiers during WW I. In some cities, the date remains a fundraiser event for the Salvation Army.

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
Get out and have some Fun — You deserve it !
Treat yourself to a donut too.

Yes, my sentiments exactly! We all need that right now. We had a lot of rain last night, but our weekend looks like sunshine both Saturday and Sunday, so I'll be out there enjoying it. Great photos. Love the little baby geese!

Have a superb weekend!

Oh I love the geese! What a neat thing to see and take great photos of! It's supposed to rain some every day for a week! OH MY! I need to get things done inside though so I won't complain. (at least not here! heehee) Happy weekend! Enjoy getting out with your camera!

Please, get out and benefit from the great outdoors. If there is one constant during these very troubled times it is the consoling power of nature and I hope that you are able to draw on it to the fullest. If I may be self-indulgent for a moment , it works for me, and has done so all my life. Recently I discovered a new Cliff Swallow colony in a spot where I can hardly believe I had missed it until now, and my elation was as great as my first excitement with nature when I was eight years old and "studied" newts in a pond. It works!

Hi, National Donut Day! How did I miss this major event! Love donuts and other related goodies... May have to make a run to the local shop. As for spammer, "Vivia", he/she is a pain and I rarely get so much extensive spam! Delete, Delete, Delete!! This time of the year we have a flight of geese go over our house each evening, headed for their lakefront overnight hangout. Our area has been seeing a lot of bears lately although none so far in our neighborhood. We did have to take our bird feeders in last night though...as a rascally raccoon decided to visit them yesterday. Stay Safe and Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

I like the 'follow the leader' command. I'm used to say we have no leaders only politicians, but with geese leadership is still valid.

It is such a good feeling to see families of waterfowl swimming together.

I learn so much reading your blog. I love the history of your town which you've described so well. And now, donut day! I had no idea! The best ones I ever had were homemade - yum.

Getting out into the world of trees, bushes and flowers sure does make a difference. I always return home refreshed, with new hope.

Doughnut Day is a new one for me. We're just back from a picnic at a local university where no one else was in sight. Met up with friends and sat at different tables. Good to see them. FaceTime dinner calls haven't always worked.
Daughter in NH taking the girls to swim today, its that warm.

I like watch geese and ducks that follower their mothers. In rare moments we have Canada geese that hatching babies in a swamping drain area near a business. The mother walks them around in parking lots to get to bank ponds as if she owns the place.

I love the formations of the geese. They just know how to do it!

I too like the formation of geese, and no planning involved.

Hi Dorothy! :) Those are great photos. I saw two rows of geese in the marsh the other day. I love how they are in perfect lines with the little babies in between the parents! I hope you have a lovely Sunday! I'm going to try to do some baking today, a little sugary comfort food is going to be very welcome on this rainy cold Sunday!!
