Today, family and friends in the US Northeast and Canada are being pummeled by a winter blizzard — Nemo. Funny name for a storm that was the half the title of a Disney film. But, not so funny for folks in the path of this storm.
Grenville had the snow shovel at the ready on the back porch — in case it was needed, but it’s hard to shovel water.
The backyard and part of the street were flooded, which is nothing new. A few hours after the rain stops, the waters will recede leaving a very soggy mess — this is “mud season” cause winter is just NOT a season on the eastern shore.

I just saw on the news about the big snow storm hitting the East coast. Sounds like a bad one.
Nice photos ! Yup we got hit by that snow storm from last night till late this afternoon lots of snow but it is pretty ! Hope all on the east coast is safe and cozy as it heads that way now ! Have a good evening !
We're a little off the main area, so we'll probably only get 10" or less. Still, it was enough to make the roads very difficult today. School buses didn't run.
Snow keeps falling here, but it doesn't look quite as crazy as predicted - yet. I certainly hope you don't need that kayak! Stay warm and dry and safe.
Pretty soggy here with melt.I wish for snow, i haven't sledded enough.

this is a wild and wooly snow storm.. looks like you are really wet... the weather is totally wacked
I've just learned that it isn't the fish they named the storm after, it's Captain Nemo. Sort of makes sense since it is a huge storm :-)
I've been reading about Nemo and lots of people have lost the electricity, I do hope they have some kind of heater for times like this!
I'm mpore used to rain during winters since I grew up by the ocean, nothing says winter like a pouring rain :-)

That's a lot of rain. But better than shoveling the snow!
We've been lucky here... just about 6 hours South of you. One night of rain and the rest has been fairly cold but bright and sunny !
I KNOW! Isn't it a mess back there. We have a brother in Bucks Harbor Maine, a dear friend in Connecticut and my precious brother in New Hampshire. We keep tabs on them and of course I keep tab, when I can find the time and remember to do so, in lots of other states. Do you know Di from The Blue Ridge Gal? She is also in Virginia and has been talking about the weather...and I believe that Joyce @ October Farm is also in Virginia. She got snow though not so much.
We don't have birds that pretty in our part of the state..or country for that matter.

Sorry about the "too much" rain there. It just doesn't seem to come when ordered and in the quantity ordered, does it. :\ Love the Cardinals. I am seeing Cardinals all over blog land today. :)

Yep, it is like walking on a sponge out there... barns sitting in the lake, cats complaining, but the only thing that slowed the birds down here was a visit by a hawk. I sent him back down the street to your place.
We had a lot of rain too.
