What’s (Still) in the Garden?

Yes, the calendar reads October here too, but the weather here on the VA tractor gnome (7)eastern shore resembles more like summer. This week several days have been VERY warm with daytime temps in the mid-80s and a humidity index that’s even higher.
This heat wave has kept veggies producing in the Frog & PenguINN garden.

The garden caretaker gnome and frog keep watch over the garden for Grenville.

So, what’s STILL producing?
Tomatoes which are still green, but Grenville is hoping these will redden soon for his favorite ‘mater sandwich . . .

pepper collage1012Grenville has already put in winter crops of broccoli and cauliflower which he’s tried in the past but not with great success. These plants have been looking good with lots of care and watering.

And there was another unexpected surprise on the patio in the past week — marigolds reseeded and re-bloomed with perfect fall colors.

I do envy the longer growing season. Here on the northern "tundra" things have to grow quick...:)

Everything looks good! Our marigolds are looking nice but the rest of our annuals look tired.

Wishing you a great day!

You have a fabulous garden. I would like a bigger one, but we have a fenced area that is small. I love "yard art".

Nothing worth waiting for over here, but I do have some peppers growing by my kitchen window and it looks good :-)

Have a great day!

I love your gnome! My garden is done for the year ~ it was very productive though considering our short growing time here in northern Wisconsin. I still have some turnips and kohlrabi in it that I'm saving to pull later this week for the deer.

Every thing is looking good in the garden.
Here the rain and huge numbers of slugs have ruined an awful lot of gardens this year.

Wonderful photos! It is still in the 80's here in the afternoons.

How wonderful! You might as well enjoy the produce and flowers as long as you can.

Love the gnome, and envy the tomatoes....it was balmy here too until yesterday when the wind came in with a cold nip. Well it is Oct. Roses are doing their grand fall show and leaves are dropping...cold enough last night that the potted plants had to come into the garage.

Here, the last of the carrots need digging ... perhaps tomorrow.
