Hmmm, has to be connected with some kind of roadwork. Some of the roads here use stakes to mark the edge of the road so you don't go off the road in a whiteout, but somehow I don't think that's what these are for.
Uhhhh, mark the edges of the newly laid blacktop? Our dogs would think they are weave poles. They have ribbons and plaques for running through those things. ;)
YES, these poles (flimsy as they may seem) are for marking the road edges for snow removal. Congrats Steve (Out on the Prairie) for the correct answer. Runner-up was Elaine (Artic View).
Tammy, your suggestion of agility poles was the most creative answer followed by Lois whose dogs use them for something similar.
These poles were spotted in and around NH during our post holiday road trip a few weeks ago. There hadn't been much snow up to that time, but they were getting ready it seemed.

Marking for snow removal?
Have not a clue.
Have absolutely no idea at all but I do like the agility suggestion :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.

I don't know, but I'll throw out a guess that it marks the way to put down asphalt? Have a great weekend! :)
No idea! Fill us in.

I wait with bated breath.
They look too fragile to count on for much of anything. Looking forward to the answer.

Thanks everyone for guessing along!
Not a clue. Good idea they don't use them here and take everything with them
Since they are on the edge of the street, does it prevent people from running over the edge in their car?? LOL. blessings,Kathleen
They sure seem flimsy to be markers for snow removal. They look like they'd fall apart at the first sign of bad weather.
Ah, since we do not have much snow in the way of inches we dont need markers.
HOPE you are doing good!
In our city, folks leave these up from weekend to weekend to put directional or political signs on! These seem way too close together.
Hi Carole, thought you might get this one as you must get a fair amount of the white stuff.
Kathleen, not sure if the poles keep folks from going over the edges.
Agreen Ginnie, these were very flimsy and looked like a good rainstorm would do them in.
Tammy, I figured that too :-)
Mildred, yes these did seem too close together!
