For those of you who may not realize it, 'The Chairman of the Board' would have been 96 years old today. What???? You don't know who i'm talking about????? Well maybe you're too young, or didn't grow up in the shadow of Manhattan listening to WNEW-AM. That is where DJ Martin Block crowned Francis Albert Sinatra the Chairman of the Board.
Born on December 15, 1915 to Martin and 'Dolly' Sinatra in Hoboken New Jersey, he decided on a career in singing after hearing Bing Crosby. Frank went on to become one of the best known entertainers of the century. In Las Vegas the Sands Hotel announced his presence with just one word on the marquee, "FRANK".
His recordings still represent some of the best of the "Great American Song Book".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK!!!!! We miss you.....

I do know who you are talking about, but I didn't know this was his birthday. He had a golden voice.
Hi Grenville...now you sure keep up with what's going on don't you ...I sure hope you remember B. birthday ...she won't like that if you remember Frank and not her!
Yup...heard a lot of Frank growing up...my parents loved to dance to his music in the livingroom!!

Happy Birthday Frank!
Old Blue Eyes. Love his music.
I have a lot of Sinatra LPs and now have a lot of his music on CD as well. I think my favorite is an album he did with Antonio Carlos Jobim.
I grew up with his music, he is my mothers favorite of all times :-)
Have a great day!
Christer.
Grew up listening to him! blessings,Kathleen
Greetings from the Amish community of Lebanon Pennsylvania. I'm just stopping at Radom blogs and checking them out, and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and New years. Richard from Amish Stories.
Yes, I grew up listening to "Old Blue Eyes" and used to enjoy following the Rat Packs doings!
One of my all time favorite singers. Happy Birthday Frank!
Have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

We still have people today trying to measure up to his talent. He was an original and appropriately missed.
Thanks for the reminder.

Hi, just wanted to drop back by to wish you a Merry Christmas! blessings,Kathleen
I have a daily Christmas song each day of December on my blog, and of course I HAD to have some music by Frankie, as well as Bing and Deano! Check it out if you have a few minutes.
Now that's a young photo. I don't think I've ever seen one so young.
