This weekend is a BIG birthday celebration here in the states. July 4, 2026 marks not only Independence Day but the historic 250th anniversary (semiquincentennial) of the U.S. and the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Maxine was ready and decked out in her colorful finery at the senior center earlier this week minus footwear.
A jewelry store in downtown Nashua, NH, always has a holiday window display featuring tiny mice figurines appropriately garbed for the holiday. What makes these rather special on this holiday weekend is that they are all created and produced in the U.S. and remain a family business in the state of Massachusetts.
Some of these tiny figures even had some sweet holiday baked goods which seemed larger than the mouse.
These tiny figures are very collectible. Wee Forest Folk® started in the Peterson family in New England in 1972. A mouse figure begins as an original clay piece which is hand sculpted by one of three sculptors in the family. The finished sculpture is molded and hand cast at the "mouse factory" in Carlisle, MA. Skilled artists hand paint each to create a mouse personality.
Some of these miniature mice can cost upwards of several hundred dollars depending on the piece. That's why, I continue to admire them in the holiday window displays.
Enjoy the 🇺🇸 Holiday Weekend, Everyone
It's been a hot 🥵 week in NH & no travel plans for us.
We'll stay at home and watch a local fireworks display

I hope you have a joyful celebration. Just don’t dip your hand in a reflecting pool; it might get you arrested!
I love the facial expressions of the mice, especially the bake sale ones. Not a lot to celebrate this year, but we need to resolve to regain our democracy.
It's good to find something to celebrate.
Those mice are cute, but like you I would admire them from a store window...and not in my house
Very cute. I personally can do without fireworks but then no one asked me. Happy 4th to you.
