As most regular readers of this blog know, Grenville and myself enjoy road trips within NH and other New England states and often many times a bit further.
Grenville is usually the driver, and I'm looking at everything on the roadways and elsewhere. Here's a few examples of some recent sightings.
In this one, notice the dual spelling. Perhaps, a smaller size could have been used on the window, but that would have been far less interesting. The license plate was from CA and this was spotted on a NH roadway. Sure, hope there wasn't a serious medical emergency.
The phone number tie-in with the business name was interesting to see and I wondered, which came first?

We have a lot of phone numbers here with a word about the business on the end of the number. I’ve always assumed they buy the number somehow.
I love the suicide on the truck. It's a good warning.
I have seen a truck that warned of suicide before! And that station wagon really DOES look like something out of Ghostbusters!!
I do most of the driving here - all of it if we are in the car instead of the truck. Louis Dean does the watching and the thing he likes to do with license plates is 'casting out the 9's.' I still don't understand how to do it but it's a math thing and that's not my strong suit!

This was fun! I haven't been paying that much attention to our vehicles here lately. We don't spend that much time on the road I guess. It's less than 3 miles to Dixie Cottage and our church and where we walk and where we shop here locally, so we don't see much of interest between here and there. We did drive the other direction yesterday to go out to eat breakfast and then to Walmart, but again, I wasn't paying much attention. I will try to do so from now on. I might be missing something interesting! LOL. When we do travel away a bit I always look at license plates to see where people are from. This time of year we have a lot of snowbirds coming back to Florida from up north, so the tags get more interesting! I always love to see a NH plate, which says, "Live Free or Die". And then if they also have a bumper sticker that says "Brake for Moose, It could save your life", I love that one! or "This car climbed Mt. Washington." Brings back happy memories. Have an enjoyable fall walk this weekend! Take lots of pictures of the color for us!!
Perhaps the ambulance company was named ambulnz. I did see a car this week with a plastic skeleton tied down on the roof rack. It was definitely something you don't see every day. Have a great weekend, stay warm and enjoy your walk in the park!

Oh I love the Ghostbusters car! ☺☺ There is one truck in the area that has a big wasp on the top, he's an exterminator go figure lol! ☺
It is one of my favourite hobbies to keep reading all the interesting, funny and sometimes profound text on huge trucks passing by while riding car or van .
Sometimes they make smile and sometimes think .

I wonder how much of this I miss? I am always driving when Miriam and I are in the car together, and most of the time she is reading.
I love these truck signs--particularly the "suicide" reference.
There used to be a meat company in my neighborhood and their trucks had a slogan "Our Wurst is Best."
Beatrice, We love quirky little signs and symbols as we travel along the backroads. I may have said this before but our all time favorite sign was in front of an antique shop along a 2-lane highway in Georgia. It read "We sell dead people's stuff", pretty appropriate for this time of the year in particular... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
We haven't been out in the last 2 weeks so haven't seen anything but these are pretty amazing and the ambulance I'm trying to figure out just what that means. There's a little sign that says certified New York very strange
That's a great collection -- thanks for the morning smiles. We have seen some funny things and some inexplainable things traveling along the roadways (even on the freeways if you look at everything like you and I do). I look, but I don't think to take pictures as we pass. You have inspired me to snap more on our next roadtrip!
To answer your question on my blog our return to our winter home -- for quite a few days we had no idea whether or if the "cottage" was still standing or habitable. Everyone in the park where we live was evacuated and since it is only a tiny part of the area struck by Ian we had no idea whether we would even *have* a house to go back to, so of course our plans were on hold. Now we know and are able to make some plans.
I like your photos. Very observant of you. But, no, nothing like that here in Hawaii.
The only funny message on a car I can recall is "If you can read this, you're too close", which I expect you've seen plenty of times. I love seeing stretch limos and old vintage cars. Quite often the drivers of vintage cars have clothes to match the vintage - deer stalkers, waistcoats, plus fours.
You certainly find some interesting things, thanks for sharing them.

You did well to capture these! I'm rarely a passenger in a car as I'm normally driving so unfortunately don't get the opportunity to take any good shots even if I did see anything worth taking.
It is fun to read the moving signs as they travel down the road. It is really a good way to advertise. My neighbors always want to know what broke down when certain trucks come to the house.
