Egg-Cellent Day

The Easter time celebration wouldn't be complete for us if it didn't include two traditional activities on the day before — an egg hunt and egg coloring. So, we took a road trip to RI for some pre-Easter day fun with grandkids and friend.

First came the backyard hunt. Each child has to find several eggs with their initials on which contained a prize. Other eggs had with no restrictions — finders, keepers. Each child bagged their bounty.

Opening the eggs commenced after the hunt was over. Prizes included games, puzzles and books as well as coins. Soon it was time for the main event of egg coloring. 

Grandson and granddaughter had their own techniques.

So did grandpa. 

The kids all had a good time too and produced some very colorful results.

Egg salad anyone?

3's a Charm

Earlier posts told of granddaughter's approaching 3rd birthday celebration and a zoo trip. But, no birthday is complete without a celebration and treats too.

Grandpa morning treats of chocolate donuts were shared with her brother.

And, a birthday would not be complete without LOTS of balloons.

A birthday tiara is a must when riding the gift of a very colorful new bike.

What excitement when she saw her birthday cake decorated with favorite Disney characters.

Then, there were the birthday cards and presents opened with mom Shannon's help.

The largest gift was the last one to be opened —assembly required. 

And that's what grandpa Grenville did, not without a bit of frustration at times.

A new home is ready for a doll family.

It's good to be 3!

We'll Remember Always . . .

The 1st Graduation Day for grandson was this week as it marked the first of such celebrations to follow in years ahead.

This was his kindergarten graduation and as dutiful and (very) delighted grandparents, Grenville and I travelled to RI to be there. We were present for his birth and marking the milestones of his young life is what we continue to do. (Bobby is the letter "R" in the photo below.)

Of course, there was the anticipation waiting for his name to be called, accepting his diploma and smiling proudly at his accomplishment.

Afterwards, posing alone and with his family, father, mother, sister.

He's ready to take a bite out of life — and already did that to the cake !
