Friday Funnies

My most recent post described sights visited on a day trip to Florence during our Tuscany tour in early October.

While the best way to get around this city is on foot, we did see alternative methods such as bicycles, horse drawn carriages and this ⬇︎.

No cash handy? That would not be a problem; this rickshaw operator also accepted credit cards and contactless payments. (We didn't take advantage of this mode of transportation.)

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
We leave today for a road trip and week-long visit in NJ
Thanksgiving will be celebrated with family

Plastic is ubiquitous - and not only as a form of payment unfortunately.

A fun way to see the city. Also better for the environment than a tourist coach!

Wow, it's like a combination of ancient and modern!

That rickshaw would be fun!

Hi Beatrice, I'd certainly welcome the rickshaw method of transportation. With Afib I'm good on flat land but any rises or hills are a challenge breathing wise. Love entrepreneurs'! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

A fun option when your feet wear out!

Such fun you had.

The faceless "they" are trying so hard to abolish cash here, too. I hope "they" don't succeed.

I am just now catching up with your adventures! I'm loving it all!

That sounds like such a fun day in Florence! I love how you can get around in so many different ways, even a rickshaw that takes cards! Hope you have an awesome road trip to NJ and a great Thanksgiving with your family! Safe travels!

There are rickshaw operators in Manhattan, most of which have garish lighting and (unfortunately) blaring music to entertain the passengers.

I've never used them as I'm more of a subway guy. Two friends from Pennsylvania took a rickshaw to the Port Authority bus terminal to get their bus home.

One of them later told me the ride was fine, except when they got to Times Square, which was a little scary.

That would be a fun and unique way to see the city. We have never done it, so much more expensive than good old walking.

I would probably still prefer to walk, but if the feet hurt, this might be an interesting alternative. It seems credit cards work almost everywhere in Europe now.
Have a lovely Thanksgiving, Dorothy!

Wonderful photo! I remember taking a similar ride in San Francisco by a very knowledgeable tour guide. He was also very fit!

I'm sure the rickshaw would be fun.
The owner is well organised for cashless payments!

All the best Jan

I once took a horse-drawn carriage through the spa town of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic... it was a one-day tour and the four of us had a lot of fun.
