We went bear hunting on Halloween this year. It involved an overnight trip to nearby VT.
For the record, no humans or bears were injured in this quest.
The bear and puppy below and all the others in this post are from the Vermont Teddy Bear Company in Shelburne, VT. We've been there several times to purchase gifts, including a bear for ourselves years ago.
Here they are — an owl, penguin (of course) and a dinosaur. All of these, including the bear and puppy, are going to new young owners within the next few weeks. (Admittedly, we did consider getting a second penguin for our NH home; but did not.)
The puppy will be gifted to a NH friend expecting a baby boy in early 2025. The others will be go to family members. One of these book ↓ will be included with each "animal."
The bear is a gift for our future great niece (Willow) whose arrival is expected in December. We will be seeing her parents an "older" sister at Thanksgiving in NJ.
The dinosaur will be going to our 3-year old great nephew (Nicholas) who lives in FL and will be visiting NJ at Thanksgiving with his parents and "older" sister.
The two "older" sisters mentioned above are 5-year old great nieces, Autumn, future big sister of Willow and Savannah, big sister of Nicholas.
Once again this year, Grenville donned his now-annual Halloween costume. This $5 t-shirt was purchased in a Walmart many years ago. It never fails to receive positive comments.
After voting this week, we celebrated at this local ice cream stand on a 75-degree afternoon in NH. Unbelievably for us, this was the first 2024 visit here.
Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
A holiday craft show is Saturday's outing; 'tis the season 🌲

...our 11 year old granddaughter has so many stuffed animals, I don't know how she gets into her room!
How very Fun!
I’ve been loving the warm temps, but it looks to be over. ‘Stuffies’ as my grands call them, are always a hit!
Looking good you two! Love the shirt. Lol.
Christmas will soon be here so you've started your preparations well. Love the teddies and understand why you got the penguin! You both look happy. Have a lovely time at Thanksgiving.
Great stuffies there! I actually have a couple in my bedroom, which sometimes get tossed on the pillow after making the bed. Who says our inner child is not rewarded anymore? Ice cream! Hello!
I had a great collection of stuff bears and dolls as a child and any and all of these would have been a huge hit with me, of course I might lean towards that puppy
Those stuffed animals are adorable!
We visited the Bear Factory many years ago. It was so fun to go there. Love the penguin especially. Yumm on the homemade ice cream and your Honey looks great in that T-shirt.

the collection of stuffed animals is adorable, the books are a great addition to fo with them. that is a great picture of the 2 of you, always smiling!! i love the halloween t-shirt, if you only wear the shirt 1 or 2 days a year, they do last a long time!!
What a great idea for gifts! These are so sweet and cuddly, and can be keepsakes as well.
We love Arnie's in Concord for our ice cream! Sad when they close for winter.
We have two small cuddly toys, both koalas. Cuddly toys make great presents.
A bear and a book make a wonderful gift. And of course ice cream is a great snack.
Those stuffed bears and friends all look so cuddly and sweet! What wonderful gifts, along with the books, for each of those special children! That's a wonderful idea! And you both look wonderful! Love Grenville's Halloween shirt! I have a "Life is Good" Halloween Jack o lantern shirt that I put on every year on Halloween as well. I guess I didn't get a picture this year. Your ice cream looks wonderful too! Happy Days!!
You had a good haul in your shopping and the kids will love them. Tell Grenville he is very cute in his costume!
Sweet gifts!
Ice cream is always a welcome treat, but especially when it is still in the 70s in November--lol!
I picked the same I voted sticker as you. And my goodness, that looks like a HUGE ice cream container. I love your Vermont Teddy Bear critters. When my daughter was young she had a Vermont TB, and even some clothes to go with it. Do they still sell clothes? Have you ever visited the Shelburne Museum when you go up to get the cuties? If not, it is a cool place to visit in the nice summer weather. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika
They are going to love those stuffed animals and books! I have never heard of Hayward Ice Cream, but I bet it was delicious!
The young ones are going to be delighted. You two look great. Love that halloween t shirt, and I bet the ice cream tasted delicious. Happy Sunday my friends!
Love all those stuffed animals. This reminds me of all the various stuffed critters I gave my two nieces many, many years ago.
And including the books is a great idea. I've got to get a shirt like Grenville's.
I love the stuffed animals and they all would be perfect for my great-grands. Voting was particularly a good outing this go-round, except for my broken leg :) Have a great week!
Those stuffed animals are adorable and no doubt they will be appreciated. Warm weather here in Kentucky as well. Crazy for this time of year.
Hi Beatrice, My better half was really into bears as well. She puts some out from time to time, especially at Halloween and Christmas. She has over 100 of them... I'm not sure if she has any from the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, but it wouldn't surprise me. It was 82F here 2 days ago...a new all time record high. We have a special ice cream shop here too, and coincidently, we've only been there once this year as well. Hope all is well... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
