Happy Friendsgiving

Tomorrow, here in the U.S., many folks will celebrate Thanksgiving with a lot of great food and surrounded by family and/or friends.

There are those who do not have the closeness of family and friends because of distance, health or other reasons. That was the case when we lived in VA, away from family. So, we invited folks we knew, who were in a similar situation, to join us for dinner. We always had the best times. In recent years, such a gathering has been called Friendsgiving, combining "friend" and "Thanksgiving" to refer to a meal eaten with friends — on or around Thanksgiving. It's still a celebration. The only difference is the people you celebrate with, regardless of whether or not you're related. After all, it's being together that's the most important part of the holiday.

This 🦃 holiday, we're neither celebrating at home nor visiting family, but will celebrate with friends and others we haven't (yet) met here in NH. Yes, we're on the road again, staying in a hotel in the White Mountains here. We expect to visit with family members during the🎄holiday.

Enjoy your celebration and if you're planning to holiday shop, we hope that you find things not only on your list, but on sale too ! (Blog posts will be on a break for the holiday too.)
Our Best Wishes to All for a very Happy Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving celebrated with all those special folks in your lives and perhaps a few new ones too.

Thanks to everyone who has read and commented (or not) on blog posts this year which is fast drawing to a close. To us, fellow bloggers are "friends" we haven't met and, even if we never meet in person, friendships also can be virtual, like everything now.

Thankful for Everyone
Beatrice & Grenville

Happy Friendsgiving to you too.
We often celebrate that way too.
It's hard when family is too far away but last year we did a Zoom call with our younger son and family while we were both eating dinner at our respective homes. It was a fun way to be together virtually.
Enjoy the holidays and safe travels.

Have a wonderful time! This sounds perfect to me. People we meet do become friends, some very much so. I am pleased to have stumbled upon you a couple of months ago. You add to my day!

Lovely handwriting!
The word 'giving' is shared by both Thanksgiving anf Friendsgiving.
'Giving' is the action that dominates the above celebrations.

Enjoy your stay in the White Mtns. Hope the turkey is good where you are.

Sad news from those parts about an unprepared hiker who died there in the last couple of days.

I can't wait to hear about your travels in the White Mountains, which is where we used to live in Conway, NH. Such a beautiful area, especially this time of year. I hope you are having a wonderful time. Happy Friendsgiving..a great idea. We have always invited extra people who needed a home to celebrate in...along with our own family. We've had some very interesting Thanksgivings that way. This year ended up very different since I got sick and we had to cancel our big event with the extended family, but our kids still took charge and made sure we had a nice dinner and day. So very thankful. Take care and hurry home!

Hi Beatrice, We hope that you had a great Thanksgiving at the resort. Meeting and sharing a table with new people can be so rewarding! New friends suddenly appear! Laurie and I were on the road with family for the last 10 days... A few days prior to Thanksgiving in St. Louis with some of her family and then off to Omaha for Thanksgiving Dinner with our son and his family. In our case, we won't see any family members over Christmas... Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
