Friday Funnies

This is not a funny photo post, but rather an ironic one at much situations and prices have changed over the past year and more. I've seen sale signs like the ones below in several stores this past week, maybe you have as well in your locales?

It hardly seems that long ago when these items and similar ones were in such short supply.
Now, local supermarket shelves here are usually well stocked with paper products, including once-hoarded packages of toilet paper and packages of cleaning supplies.
Highly sought after virus protection items are nearly at give-away prices
As of this past Thursday,
May 27, the City of Nashua lifted its mandatory coronavirus mask and face covering mandate for "vaccinated residents and visitors." The board of alderman amended the city ordinance which was signed by the mayor.

The amended ordinance states that fully vaccinated persons are no longer required to wear face coverings indoors or outdoors unless required by a specific Nashua business, organization and compliance is mandatory regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated folks are advised to continue to mask up "for their protection and that of others."

So, things are definitely moving along in a better direction and we're on the honor system here to do the right thing.

This Memorial Day weekend will be a happier holiday celebration time compared to 2020. We've no special plans, aside from gathering on the riverwalk near the mill apts on Saturday night to view the first 2021 Nashua River Light Parade with decorated, lighted, and people-powered vessels. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate despite a forecast of rain.

Update the weather will not cooperate with forecasted rain and chilly temps, which have postponed the vessel parade until next weekend. We'll miss it as we're headed to NJ next week to visit family and friends (first time since late 2019). Hopefully, there will be another river event later this summer season.

Enjoy Your Weekend, Everyone
Things are definitely getting better, day-by-day

Lots of rain and cold here predicted we had plans to attend a family cookout but not sure it will happen. You are right not so long ago we were hoarding those kind of things.

I hope the euphoria is not premature. I am not convinced that it is all over yet.

Caffeine free diet coke hasn't come back here. There is now a caf-free coke zero version, but I don't like it as much.

Oh dear, I may need some supplies...which I use seldom actually. After the CDC posted that surfaces don't pass along the virus, I've not been cleaning every little thing, nor my hands. I mentioned this to a nurse who still followed that protocol...but she had to follow it until it's updated again.

we have lots of the things i see here, but the shelves are empty of the things on my list, i make a list and each week there is several things I can't get because they can't get them. and the pool supplies are almost non existant and WM can't get stock for the shelvs because of the shortage of truck drivers. we are no where near out of this thing. there is no honor system. i can name several who have refused the shots and have never worn a mask and still don't. we wear our mask in public places because the others have not had shots. the mask is so simple and i wear mine for protection. it will take many years for us to get past this virus and maybe not in our lifetime.

We're fully vaccinated, but still wearing masks when we go shopping at the local co-op. It does make us feel safe. Our county has the highest covid infection rate right now because of the new variant. We're not personally at risk because the numbers aren't as dire in our small town as other parts of the county, but it still scares us. California mask mandate goes until June 15th. We'll see what happens next.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you!

I imagine I will wear a mask for a long while to come.

Wipe Out presumably refers to falling profit levels....

Face masks are still required in the UK, and no sign so far of any relaxation. I've been vaccinated twice but I'm still taking all the usual precautions, just in case....

I hope that is good news, but we've seen so many U-turns and so much back-tracking that I'm becoming very sceptical of any good news!

I hope unvaccinated people will protect themselves. I personally know three people who poo-pooed vaccination who now have COVID. How I wish folks would pay attention.

Beatrice, Great news for you with the loosening of Covid-19 restrictions! We're pretty much wide open here in East Tennessee and our county has the highest vaccination rate in the State. We don't wear masks anymore unless a business or government entity requires it. Everyone needs to get their vaccine! Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

The only places here that have lifted the mask mandate are large chains, like Wal Mart and Giant Eagle. I guess the rest of the businesses are immu-deniers! Hope the rain stops for all of us. Happy Memorial Day!

How times change :) Wishing you both a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

I don't trust the honor system as far as I can spit! But it nice that things are a bit more flexible. I'm still masking in public when there is a crowd. I've nothing to lose and all the more to gain.

Still wearing a mask even if others aren't. They say the vulnerable people should still wear them even if vaccinated so I will keep wearing mine (autoimmune disease). Some stores still require them and some don't. There are a lot less mask wearers and that is MOST when you consider this is a republican state and there's a Trump flag out on a patio next to me--LOL! ;)

Stay drive. Sounds like this weekend will be a washout more of less. Too bad for all the folks ready to enjoy a long weekend! Have a nice trip to NJ.

It is such good news to hear. While we did well at keeping the virus under control, we are doing badly at getting the population vaccinated for a variety of reasons mostly fed govt stuff ups.

Things are looking up there for you all.
Have a good time weather permitting.

A lot of stores are not requiring masks here for vaccinated folks. But I continue to wear mine for several reasons. Not everyone in my household has yet had the opportunity to be vaccinated so in respect for their health, I wear mine. No need to bring in that nasty virus. And I'm quite certain the honor system is being abused.
We don't have any plans for the holiday weekend. The weather is not favorable for doing anything outdoors...although Monday forecast is sounding better.
Our son and family are planning a short beach trip to NJ nest week. Just thought it was interesting that both of you are visiting that state next week 😊
Enjoy your Holiday weekend even if it's cool and rainy!

We are still wearing masks. I'll keep wearing it until I'm fully vaccinated. I have one more shot to go and then I will have to wait and see how it's going. Inside dining and pubs will open in July and international travel in August.

Can you send some rain this way? 😁 We didn’t have rain for weeks now.

I continue wearing a mask when I’m in a crowd. Melbourne is in a lockdown because they found the Indian variant of the virus there recently. I wonder when this is going to end.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Beatrice.

Hello Beatrice, yes things are slowing getting better here in the UK. I have noticed the price of masks has dropped dramatically.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, despite the poor weather. I am glad to hear that restrictions are easing up a bit in Nashua.
