Snow, We Got It!

Snow was our weather headliner today as a major nor’easter hit the Northeastern U.S. Some parts of southern New England are expecting up to 16 inches of snow by the time it winds down this evening.This was the first major snow we're had in Nashua, NH this winter, aside from some smaller snowfalls between 2-4 inches in January and earlier this month.

The storm came a day after clear skies and nearly spring-like temperatures in the mid-50s on Wednesday. We walked downtown yesterday and saw folks going without jackets and wearing t-shirts and shorts!in t-shirts and without jackets. 

It was a very different story today as light snow started falling around 7 a.m. and continued throughout the day.

 

The city declared a snow emergency early last night many hours in advance of the storm. School, public facilities, local business and the local mall were all closed today. Estimated accumulation as of this evening was 13 inches here in the city.

The Nashua River was starting to fill in with the snowfall before nightfall. It will freeze more tonight as frigid temps of 10-20 degrees will follow the storm.

We stayed inside all day with no need (or desire) to go outdoors. This was definitely a "comfort" food day. Freshly baked banana-blueberry muffins were on our breakfast menu. 

And homemade lasagna was the dinner entrée this evening.
