Snowy Travels

Driving on interstate highways to spend Thanksgiving in our native NJ visiting with family and friend brought a number of wintry sights.

A winter storm hit the east coast on Wednesday just as many folks, like ourselves, were heading on the roads.
Luckily, we didn't experience any major backups or delays during our trip. Even though the day before Thanksgiving is predictably the "heaviest" travel day, traffic moved along smoothly.

Our only "delays" were when traffic slowed to let salt and plow truck drivers to do their job for which we were thankful.
And 2 days afterwards this was the scene as we traveled NJ roadways — what a difference in road and weather conditions.

We hope that all our U.S. blogger friends enjoyed a safe and wonderful holiday, as we certainly did.

The wintry photos are pretty but I am thankful the bad conditions did not delay your travel plans.

Rain here instead of snow.

Love your wintry photos! And am very glad to hear you didn't run into any major delays on the road. Traffic around here was pretty horrendous at times, but since we stay home, we didn't have to participate in that.

What beautiful snowy photos but I am glad for you that the roads were so clear! We live in fear that it will snow in Georgia, no one seems to know how to clear the roads! YIKES!
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. :-)

The roads look awful. They may be cleared of snow but the wetness is dangerous. However the snowy landscape is just beautiful.

Hi B&G .. It was some crazy that storm!! I named it "the Gringe who stole Thanksgiving" : )
So glad you got there and back safely!
So many people in Maine spent it with no power, and no family including your's truly!

I can't imagine any better way than to spend Thanksgiving in such a wintry scene. Sometimes a person just needs a bit of snow to get them in the spirit of the season.

Snow is so beautiful when it falls anywhere but where I live :-) Beautiful photos! You sure have more winter than we do.

It's nice when they actually respect those that do their best to keep the roads clean, too many usually don't.

Have a great day!
Christer.

So glad the weather didn't cause a major problem. I guess Northern states are more ready for these situations.

Thanks everyone for your comments. We did have a safe journey despite the snowy look. The roads looked worse than they were to drive on. Most drivers seemed to take the necessary precautions so that all could arrive safe. Less than a week later, Yesterday's VA temps were in the 60s. FYI all the road shots were taken with a Canon Elph point & shoot which is my "carry everywhere" camera.

It lasted just long enough to enjoy and not annoy.

It certainly was beautiful in our neighborhood. Roads weren't too bad. We got where we needed to be and enjoyed a bountiful feast. Glad you arrived safely to your destination!
